Default The REAL 2008 Headliners Thread

No Doubt Reunion-Almost 100% confirmed. I talked to Gwen last week, they have been approached and they are finishing up work on their latest with a spring to summer release.

The White Stripes-They will finish touring through December and take a break until Coachella.

The Smashing Pumpkins-They will be touring straight through and headline the third night.

    Other confirmed acts.

    Weezer
    Polyphonic Spree
    Tegan and Sarah

This is "as of now". Things can change but so far it's solid.

I can see the 1st two but not the last. I just don't see Goldenvoice getting a 50% SP reunion to headline...maybe a sub but not a headliner...Please god thought no more Weezer...my luck they will go on before someone I want to see and suck like the last 2 times I have seen them...too tired a act to bring back...

Rivers always makes it seem like it is a chore to be on stage..I want to lug my shoe at him! Let them headline the outdoor theater and I will be fine...

I saw weezer a good 5 times on the blue album tour and it was more than obvoius Rivers wanted to be huge and headline arena's. They rocked clubs back then like nobodies business. It's sad what they ahve become it's almost like Rivers decided if the people want pop he'll give it to them if it means he can play arenas and that's what they do now. Sad. Their Coachella for Make Beleive was one of the worst sets I have ever seen.

On a different note..why should we think that this is concrete for next year? if that is the case the headliners look very weak...

That is a weak line up. I say its RADIOHEAD AND PEARL JAM TO HEADLINE.

If Oasis has a new album coming out, I can see them making a return. Don't think they could headline anymore but they'd be a solid sub-headliner.

i think those headliners you said is kind of a waste of the weekend.
thats just my opinion...i cant see the white stripes headlining a huge festival like that...i can only see Smashing Pumpkins doing that.

does anyone this Deftones, Ministry, or Type O Negative fit the Coachella festival bill?

    just a question

they would fit but all three are washed up. Type O is a bit too hardcore.

The Deftones and Ministry would work but no way they would headline.

The White Stripes actually are not a headliner, it's looking like they are second tier.

The White Stripes and R.E.M. should co-headline a day.

Hey, summerkid, didn't you say in a different thread in the Line-up section some time ago that Jack White would be touring with the Raconteurs come next year's Coachella? Or am I mistaking you for somebody else? In any event, having them play right before the headliner would be sweet.

Could R.E.M. headline still or has their relevance waned? Maybe if they reunited with their drummer (he's the one who left, right?) but I think with as big as Coachella's gotten, they'd be a bit of a let down. Put them in the JAMC slot and all would be fine.

faxman: if you're fucking around about Portishead, so help me...

Well i was speculating because they do have an album coming out in 2008 and The White Stripes are touring through November so it should be interesting to see how he divides his time.
