My cousin died...

...yesterday while serving his country in Iraq. Rest in peace Michael.

I never thought much about this war until today. Even though he died doing what he loved, I'm still unsure if he died for a worthy cause. After I heard the news, I drove home crying my eyes out, repeatedly punching the steering wheel of my car.

We see all these pictures of soldiers who die on the news. I never thought that it could be the one and only Marine I cared about in the whole country.



Michael is pictured on the right. Even sadder, his brother Vincent on the left, committed suicide last November. May they both rest in peace.

I'm in Washington attending a funeral this week. Not really good at handling death. I walked into the funeral parlor this week and what do they ask? They ask me to be a pallbearer. I've been drinking heavily ever since. I need to slow down before flying out tomorrow.

Be proud that your cousin gave his life serving his country.

i was in the service 67-71, my dad was in 35 years and did three nam tours, my brother in law is still a ranger, and xxxxx daughter is an officer in the army, jumps out of helicopters and all of that, i DO support the troups, i hate the war, i am so sorry about your loss, but he must have been doing what he tought was right ... peace to you .... ron****
