bump because today my niece showed up at my work with her foster parents. she's turning 5 on tuesday and they were having her birthday party there (i work at a lake). i haven't seen her since she was a baby... or heard from my brother... i didn't go see her or talk to her or her foster parents except to let them know who i was and to thank them for taking care of her. i snuck a few peeks at her from a distance. she's really cute, but she looks like my cunty ex sister in law.

Years ago, during my stoner daze, I was supposed to be at the movies one evening, but instead, went to a hotel with a guy friend to score some weed. As the elevator door opened for us to enter and go up, an older couple were coming out...My mom being one of them...My guy friend was freaking out about it as the doors shut and we went up...Worried that I was gonna be in deep shit...I was able to ease his worries when I told him yes, it was my mother, but...that wasn't my father! Got pretty stoned before going back home that nite and nothing ever got mentioned until years later between my mom and I...over a joint, nomless...

This is a genuine conversation that took place between my friend Caroline and a random stranger, at the summit of Macchu Picchu, in Peru, while she was on vacation there:

Random stranger, sitting down to eat lunch next to Caroline: "Hey."
Caroline: "Oh, you speak English, hi."
Random stranger: "How do you like Peru?"
Caroline: "It's awesome, I love it."
Random stranger: "Me too, had you been here before?"
Caroline: "No, never. You?"
Random stranger: "No. Where are you from?"
Caroline: "London, England."
Random stranger: "Oh, cool, I've never been there but I have a friend there."
Caroline: "Really?"
Random stranger: "Yeah, his name's John."
Caroline (joking): "Ha, I don't suppose he's married to a woman named Susan and they have a son called Richard and a daughter named Alice?"
Random stranger (in total shock): "Uhh..... actually...... yes."
Caroline (in total shock): "Holy shit... I work with that guy..."

my weirdest encounter so far was in maui when i went there with a friend. i was in the middle of the ocean, wading around, and i hear "are you lauren's sister?" some of my little sister's friends were in the water right next to me. i went to school with them way back in the day when they were like 5.

I was at a sex shop in San Fransisco 2 years ago buying a gag gift for a friend when to my utter horror, his mom and dad were looking and trying on strapons. And not just the normal ones, they were the fucking like 14 inch ones. I saw them they saw me and we both stopped what we were doing and left. We have never spoken of it sense.

im in airports a lot, and i see people in weird locations all the time. coming back from coachella i ran into a friend in the denver airport.

at coachella 2005 i ran into several people from tampa.

nothing too weird, but things like that are kind of loosely connected anyway.

So on Saturday, I was watching a band at the Detour Festival and I didn't know who it was. I was incredibly faded. I turned around and asked this group of young teenage surfer boys what band it was, and they said Autolux. I said thanks and gave them a little Japanese thank-you bow. I turn back around and mind my own business when my friends tell me that they're bowing to each other and laughing. So I turn around, 'cause I think they're making fun of me, and totally yelled at them saying how they were rude and I was just trying to be polite and that they're racist -___- and they ran away.

2 days later, I was waiting in the merch line at the Justice concert. I couldn't see what was being sold, so I asked a group of young teenage surfer boys in front of me. They were the same guys! We all gasped in surprise! Ah! What a world.

4am last Saturday at a Conrads in Glendale. Went there with some friends after Nocturnal Wonderland. Ran into an old friend from high school I lost touch with. Ironically enough, she's from Thailand so she gave me some tips on my trip.

I saw RETURN OF THE KING at the DGA (Directors Guild of America) here in LA. I walk in with a friend and take a seat next to a group of young alternative looking kids. Didn't really pay em much attention.
Suddenly, i see Weird AL walk down the aisle and take a seat about 3 rows ahead of me. It looked like Weird Al, but different. He looked sad, old and tired. but had a ridiculous brown zebra striped shirt and same hair. it had to be him.

So without turning my head around, I say to the guy next to me "dude, is that weird al?!"

and the guy next to me looks up and says "I LOVE Weird Al!"

one time I saw this lady at Blockbuster that works with me and I couldn't remember her name and I couldn't introduce her to my friend even though she introduced me to her husband and we just sat there and all looked at eachother for a minute then they left. Oh man!

Actually the weirdest place and a place that I quite frequently run into people I know is the Porn shop. Considering I work at the largest chain in Texas (Megaplexxx) it was bound to happen.

I have run into quite a few friends that I have lost touch with from high school or current ones. I really try not to look at what they're buying but I have to ring it up. Freaky little bastards!! lol

Had another friend who ran into his Scout master there as well....that was the source of endless jokes for a while. ^_^

After the PJ Harvey show on wednesday, we were hangin out outside the theater talking. I see this woman walking by.

I start babbling, "I know her...from..." and my friends are all like...who? "She's...actress...can't remember her name"

so my girlfriend and her friend walk ahead of her and it was Tilda Swinton...couldn't remember her name for the life of me...but man...she's got that unconventionally gorgeous thing going on.

Since this got bumped I was reading some of the responses and I remember another funny time: we were at the WestPoint graduation and I was in the middle of this giant field all by myself (Tygerlady was gone doing something) … all of the sudden this girl runs up to me and hugs me .. I had no clue who she was … she then started telling me how she had seen my picture online and on a desk in one of the dorms and she said “you are Ron, you are xxxxx’s mothers SO” … she was right and I thought it was kinda funny considering that all the snobs were there in tuxes, along with half of the joint chiefs of staff (Bush later), and half of the east coast money people dressed to the nines and there I was with my jeans on .. canx**

Excellent. West Point is such a stuffy place. I went to a formal there my freshman year and those boys were not a whole lot of fun. Giant sticks up their butts and the girls were no better. I just wanted to go shake everybody by the shoulders and yell, "Snap out of it."

While in a chow line in Mogadishu,Somalia I ran into a guy that I went to high school with. I was so excited that I ran back to my cot and grabbed my camera so that someone could take a picture of us. The best part was that he was in full gear (Marines) and I had on this Sting "The Soul Cages" concert t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops---I look like a complete dork in the pic!
