    Default The Simpsons Movie

i saw it and am pretty sure i have seen one of the funniest movies ever made. i laughed throughout and pretty good too. Will you like it if you don't like The Simpsons? What? You don't like the Simpsons? What's wrong with you? Anyway, i went in with high expectations and it went beyond those. LOVED it. i am looking forward to seeing it again. Very rewarding for hardcore and casual fans (i can base the casual on a few people that were there with me and they thought it was pretty damn funny). Hooray! It's great!

    A few pictures:

Free donuts. Unfortunately i thought "i'll get one after we go through the will call line". When we we're finished, so were the donuts. Ah, who needs to get fatter anyway....grrrr.

The premiere was happening in a few theaters in Westwood. my ticket was good for the one that was not connected to the yellow carpet.

The guy under the donut is Dan Castellaneta.

i saw this guy and asked "Do you just look like Dr. Demento or are you him?" Awesome. i have a pciture of me (looking shitty) and Dr. Demento. i think he was a little scared.

South Park is the perfect example of that.

Ivankay, since you've said it's funny I must now ask you the test question to see whether or not your opinion is worth shit, and I mean that in the nicest way possible.

Do you still watch The Simpsons new episodes? Do you think they're funny? If not, when do you think they stopped being funny?

i think the consistency of the show started to falter after the Homer Garbage Man episode with U2 (i think that was Episode 200). It was still great, but would have that occasional lame episode (usually one that focused on Lisa). About 3 years ago i wasn't really watching with much enthusiasm. It was getting to the point where it was a 50/50 crap shoot of a good episode or one that just sat there. Last year there was a shift and they began to embrace a darkness more than likely inspired by what was going on around the show (Family Guy and South Park). The good episodes this season (i am a defender of the improved season) were seriously psycho at points in the way that made me laugh. One of the things that comes to mind is Homer going in after a badger in the doghouse and the thing eats most of his chest exposing his ribs and organs (he has to lift his untouched shirt to show this)...that was good psycho strange.

i'll repeat my love for the movie and rank it in the all time best comedies (those might be The Producers...original, South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut, Borat, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Sullivan's Travels, The Life of Brian, Blazing Saddles, etc)

As far as the worth of my opinion, it's pretty worthless due to its irrelevance.

Well, you did alright with The Simpsons critique. Not great, but pretty good. I dunno, I suspect that the movie is going to contain a lot of the kind of humor that I think has become so popular since Season 10 when they hired the new head writer who had NEVER WATCHED A SINGLE EPISODE OF THE SHOW BEFORE.

    WHAT THE FUCK

That's when it all started to come down, and although the characters are all there, if you go back and really watch seasons 2-7 or so and then watch the shit they've been putting out for the last eight years... the difference is just revolting, to me at least. That show changed my life, and I'm pissed off that they've dumbed it down and just generally fucked up the dynamic that made it so great in the first place. I'm guessing there's probably going to be a lot of laughs in there anyway, but come on... Spiderpig? Homer banging between a large rock and a bar called A Hard Place? What is this, fucking Looney Tunes?

I'm glad I bought up a bunch of Krusty-Os to sell on ebay.

i had the same concerns when i saw the commercials and trailers, but they work in their context. And unlike most trailers, they use the weakest material in the film. Lots of good jokes in there.

I have thought the trailer look fuckin hilarious!

"Spider pig. Spider pig." I was laughing almost uncontrolably through that one.

Fans like you are the reason the show has turned into a disgrace of a once great work.

    Just sayin'. =)

Alright, as long as ivankay tells me the trailer are the weak jokes, I'm inclined to believe this has a shot. Because I trust ivankay with my life. I'd follow him into Mordor in a second.

After I posted that, I just read one of your above posts... poking fun at that exact trailer. Meh, I still think thats pretty damn funny.

Sure the new episodes arent as funny. But they are still funny.

BTW, WTF is up with Green Day doing the theme song?

Oh please. The Simpsons are still funny.

One recent episode that comes to mind is the one when Homer takes ambien. On the commercial for ambien, they talk about "awake-agens." I laughed and laughed and laughed.. They still got it.

Exactly. They have been much better from about season 5 on. Yet the movie came out after season 2 or 3. That was what we call sarcasm, used to disprove the theory that TV show movies are made when shows are dying.
