    Default Your Favorite Albums????

I was reading Pavement's Wikipedia article, specifically about Slanted and Enchanted, and found that it had sold only 150,000 copies as of 2007. I'm shocked to find that one of my favorite albums sold so poorly. And that got me to thinking, What are my favorite albums? I have a few, but what are yours? Reasons aren't necessary, but people will surely bash, and then you can defend. Let the lists begin.

    Pavement-Slanted and Enchanted
    Velvet Underground-White Light/White Heat
    Can-Tago Mago
    Beatles-White Album
    Radiohead-Kid A
    Deerhunter-Cryptograms
Olivia Tremor Control-Dusk at Cubist Castle
Neutral Milk Hotel-In The Aeroplane Over the Sea
    REM-Life's Rich Pageant

No Bug, Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire is what makes the favorite albums of all time cut.

Actually it doesn't make my cut, despite them being excellent albums. Surprisingly Exciter by Depeche Mode does though...

Fiona Apple - When The Pawn...
Depeche Mode - Exciter (I know, it's weird)
    Pulp - Different Class
    Pulp - His 'n' Hers
    Blur - Parklife
Dave Matthews Band - Before These Crowded Streets

There are waaaay too many to list, but those ones are special.

Prodigy - Fat of the Land
    Radiohead - OK Computer
Ulrich Schnauss - A Strangely Isolated Place
Rage Against the Machine - Evil Empire
Mos Def - Black on Both Sides
Orbital - Brown Album (orbital 2)
    Plaid - Restproof Clockwork
    Bob Marley - Exodus

I tried not to list more than one album by the same artist, but I love every album by The Prodigy, Radiohead, and a few more

My list would be insane if I had used Last.fm from late 2004 - until late 2006. I gave up on it for 2 years when it erased all of my plays on two separate occasions. They really got it going properly now, though (minus the page load times).

In large part, this came on because I put one of their songs("Dead End Girl") on a mix("Shanghani Seaside") way back on the old board. But I love the whole album.

It's a site that keeps track of what you listen to and compiles charts of your most listened to artists, songs, albums and all that. And it tells you how similar your musical taste is to that of others

I saw this and felt a momentary twinge of guilt.I worked in Broken Hill,Australia in my early 20's and there wasn't a whole lot to do there.Someone had a copy of Maximum R&B and there was an ad in the back saying "If you have a copy of The Necros album, call me collect at..." and then it gave a number in New Jersey.Well we called and the guy's girlfriend answered and she must have been really stupid or hated him because she accepted the call and we talked to the guy for like, half an hour about punk rock and The Misfits and stuff and then she must have told him where we were calling from, because he started yelling at us,"Hang up the phone, you fuckheads! You fucking fuckers!" etc.

That's kind of a funny story. Stupid lady.

I'm not gonna collate this time, though.

    My last.fm list:

    01. The Coup - Pick A Bigger Weapon - 56
    02. Low - Things We Lost In the Fire - 54
    03. Ghostface - Fishscale - 53
    04. Elliott Smith - Roman Candle - 50
    05. The Mountain Goats - Nothing for Juice - 47
    06. Sam Cooke - Portrait of a Legend - 46
    06. Boyracer - Boyfuckingracer - 46
    06. Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped - 46
    09. Wire - Chairs Missing - 45
    10. Les Savy Fav - Inches - 44
    11. Heatmiser - Cop and Speeder - 43
    11. The National - Alligator - 43
    13. Mates of State - Bring it Back - 41
    14. Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime - 40
    14. Superchunk - No Pocky For Kitty - 40
    14. The Wedding Present - Seamonsters - 40
    14. Elliott Smith - Either/Or - 40
    18. Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One - 39
    19. Polvo - Exploded Drawing - 38
    20. Boris - Pink - 37
    20. The National - Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers - 37
    20. The Wrens - The Meadowlands - 37
    20. Mission of Burma - The Obliterati - 37

This list befuddles me. Their album collating algorithm behaves weirdly.

    It's all great stuff, though.
