Brewed beer for the first time today. Well mostly my cousin mostly did and I helped, it was his 14th batch. Tried to do a Delirium Tremens clone. I'll report back later on how it turns out.

I recently visited the Prescott Brewing Company and enjoyed an Achocolypse. Full of deliciousness!

enjoyed a pint of Karl Strauss, for the first time, at Disney's California Adventure one afternoon this past weekend. But I'm sure at that point anything would have been good.

Looking forward to the first annual Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Fest on Saturday. It's at the Midstate Fairgrounds in Paso, anyone else going?

I gave a friend Stone IRS 09,10,11,12 for his bday today and tried Drake's alpha sessions.Which was very hoppy for a 3.8% pale ale.

ha, i had Drake's Alpha Session for the first time last night as well. i really wish there were more beers that had good flavor and were 5% or lower in ABV. Founders All Day IPA is probably my favorite in this category, but isn't distributed around here unfortunately.

I totally agree, Andrew. Their Hoptologist IIPA is really good, too. I'll admit, I live a couple miles from the brewery, so I'm a little biased.

So I'm a bit of a beer newb and I need to purchase some beer drinking glassware. I really only want to buy one glass that will work with multiple types of brews because I don't have a lot of money to spend. What kind of glass would guys recommend? I drink mostly IPAs, Double IPAs, Stouts, Brown Ales, and Hefs. I already have a Hef glass so I don't need one of those.

Get a nonic pint glass. It'll work well for all the styles you mentioned.

Belgians, barley wines, barrel-aged beers, sours etc are the ones that need to breath. you'd be surprised how cheap beer glasses can be though if you look around.

Awesome thanks again Drinkey. Are the beers that you mentioned above supposed to be served in an oversized wine glass?

Went to drakes this weekend for their one year anniversary at the taproom, they released a sour...

I dug the Alpha Session... it was tasty...

I really like their dry stout on nitro, that is so damn creamy. I want to bring in icecream for a stout float...

    In some cases, yes.

Here, check this out, it'll be super helpful!

EDIT: Obviously you'll notice they have a pint glass on there, but it's such a standard bar glass and more IPAs, stouts etc don't require anything more. That's what i use for most of my beer drinking, though i have really awesome old handmade medieval goblets i use for things that should breath.

I would get a snifter. It's good for all those styles. I use my Bruery snifter for almost everything these days.

I buy lots of things at thrift stores, but beer glasses wouldn't be one of them. If you're going to drink good beer, you may as well use a glass that's only used for beer (and not other stuff like, say, milk, which could leave residue) and that you hand-wash rather than run through the dishwasher.

I'm not talking about just picking up a case of random glasses from the thrift shop, you can get goblets, nonic pints, etc. You just need to know what you're looking for. Just make sure you clean them well.

My wife and I LOVE this beer. I asked my friend who works for the Lagunitas Distributor here to get me a case, still hasn't come through though.

They have a ton of them at my local Bevmo, and at the liquor store I always go to for their great craft beer selection. Bevmo sells them for a little more than the liquor store, but either way it's a great buy at around $4.50 per bottle.

Duvel has a great goblet that's very thick compared to other brewery glassware.

I'm drinking Simtra from Knee Deep right now and it's pretty good.I would still go for a (Kern)Citra, Scuplin or Blue Dot over this which aren't triple IPAs. The only other triple IPA i can think off the top of my head is Younger which I though killed my palate after drinking it because it tasted like Elder after a couple.

We usually stock up on them at Whole Foods.

We are holding our daughter's birthday party tomorrow which gave me an excuse to go buy a couple twelvers. Picked up some Torpedo, which I haven't tried. I just cracked one and it's pretty good! I also picked up a mixer of Uinta Brewing's Organic line. It has a honey ale, black lager, and extra pale ale. I'll try and report back.

Picked up some 2010 Cantillon krieks, plus one of the 3F Golden Blend gueuzes. Gonna try to cellar most of these for a few years, but it's going to be hard to resist drinking them ...
