Had a friend's homebrew last night. Not as good as the first batch, but still quite drinkable.

Agreed 100% on your points Rocke.

RED HORSE! 7% alc. served iced cold. I used to only get this stuff when my friend would smuggle it back from the Philippines but now you can special order it at Bevmo. I've been on a binge since friday.

It's a shame beer costs so much at Coachella. Cold beer is so refreshing.

And someone brought up the Kona Brewing Company earlier, I say nay. Everything I've tried from them has been underwhelming.

Widmer is great. Not a bad beer in the lot, and the hefeweizen is the best around.

However, I will disagree with you on Kona (I was the one who brought it up). A couple of their beers are clunkers, but the Pipeline Porter and a few others that are only found in Hawaii are amazing.

I must have had the clunkers then. They're getting one more shot from me with the porter.

Seriously the best line of domestic beers anywhere, and I've had a lot. That medal on the label of Dortmunder is there for a reason. Nationally recognized as one of the best in it's class (Pale Ales) in North America.

Also their Blackout Stout is amazingly good and with a 10.0 ABV, it can be dangerous.

I'm convinced that Rogue is the most consistently impressive brewery, although Stone are always incredibly consistent with what they do. They don't have as wide of a reach, but they are pretty great at what they do, and their Bitter Chocolate Stout was amazing.

I hate to destroy your illusions, but the first 3 pages of this thread were mostly about crazy drunk grandmas for some reason. That post makes perfect sense to me, at least by Ron standards.

on 85-degree days in the park, I need something like to quench the thirst, while at the same time getting a good buzz on, but not blasted. for those times, Tecate is where it is at. but I wouldn't call it "good" beer.

usually I stock the 'fridge with some Fat Tire or Red Nectar. I have to say that I really like the message New Belgium Brewing brings... quality beer and brewed at a wind powered facility. I had the chance to visit Ft. Collins, CO this past summer and I made sure to stop by the New Belgium Brewery for a tour (Free samplings as well). Needless to say this place became my mecca during my stay. Went a couple of times. They had beers on tap there that are only distributed in Ft. Collins, never bottled. There was one beer in particular that just blew my mind, they called it "Old Cherry." It had just the slightest hint of cherry, and it was only really noticeable in the finish. Such a good beer that I went to my local beer snob pub, Toronado, and suggested to the bartender that they try to get a few kegs of it. Doubt it will happen, but was worth the shot. Another beer that they make, which is a winter seasonal and available at most stores, is called 2 Below. Ha, I sound like some New Belgium cheerleader here, but seriously, they make some really good beer.

one of the best beer names I've hear, and it's a good beer - Death & Taxes

best brewery name - 21st Amendment

favorite beers for slow, tasty enjoyment - 1554 (a Black Ale by New Belgium), Anchor Porter

I still haven't found a beer that I enjoy as much as Rogue Hazelnut Brown. I also love the Vanilla Porter at Sonoran Brewery, but I do not believe it can be purchased anywhere else.

I agree, the perfect balance of flavors, rich and tasty but not too thick. Unfortunately I have only found it at The Yard House on tap and one other bar in the area called Coach & Willies.

They do sell it in a couple of specialty beer stores but it just isn't the same out of a bottle. Still good but not as good.

I use to only drink the more expensive, brown or red tap beers when at the bar, i.e. Kiltlifter, Fat Tire, etc. but then I realized that I actually prefer Michilob Amber Bock to any of the other more expensive brands so I have been sticking with that unless I am somewhere where they serve a bigger variety.

I just bought a bottle of the macallan - cask strength. That was very good too. great bouquet, pallat and after taste...it's called cask strength because they leave the alcohol level at 68.4% instead of filtering it down to 40%
