I was there for his 4000th strikeout. He was the first to reach that mark.


Peter Ueberroth, who was commissioner of baseball at the time, was also in attendance at that game and happened, at one point, to walk very close to where I was. When I saw him, I made a point of informing him, at a distance, of my opinion of the designated hitter. For some reason the people I was with thought I was being impolite. I can't imagine why.

And one of my good friends Grady Spears was the spokes person for Nolan Ryan Beef for a while...until they realized Grady was a coke head.

I was at Anaheim Stadium for his last strikeout (he got hurt in his last game).Also saw him alot in the Seventies and Eighties,growing up nearby.

I remember when he pitched his 7th no-hitter at age 40! Fucking insane. Best pitcher I've ever got to witness (not in-person). Considering how much baseball had already tilted to favor hitting when he was playing, he will definitely be considered one of the best if not the best pitcher of all time. Right now, there isn't one pitcher out there who could even come close to measuring up to him.
