AJ's has good stuff. I like to cook. Safeway has crap seafood and hit or miss vegetables. Albertson's is a little better but still, I can go to AJ's and know they will have watercress or chipotles en adobo or veal chops or pacific (not atlantic) salmon or whatever the hell I need that day.

for example Saturday I made "Frogmore Stew" and needed Old Bay seasoning, which is not terribly common in Arizona, but yep AJ's had it in stock.

    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

I bought some Asadero at Food City yesterday afternoon. Mmm, Mexican cheese.

    Also Old Bay seasoning, hahaha.

Yeah, I know they have good stuff...I just hate walking in there. I feel like the rich Scottsdale snobby types are going to start pointing and shrieking: "not one of us!".

I go to Sprouts for my meat/produce/bread/cheese/specialtiy items and Safeway for the rest. I got some Old Bay seasoning at Safeway on Saturday myself; funny you mentioned that.

And, I made a lovely Goat Cheese Risotto tonight with a Pinio Gris and a spring salad.

Usually I buy Provolone for sandwiches and etc. Party-wise, I like Camembert and Chevre best. And I love melted swiss, but I don't like it otherwise.

Also, I love Old Bay. I put it on popcorn. And sometimes use it when I make croutons. And when I make minestrone, too.
