    Default Rolling Stones Concert Tragedy

    Rolling Stones Concert Tragedy

Two workers tragically died on Friday in Spain after part of the set from a Rolling Stones concert collapsed on top of them as they were dismantling it.

A third man was seriously injured.

Four people fell from a 33 ft structure that gave way as the team helped take it down after Thursday night’s concert in Madrid.

Identities of the victims were not given, but about half the workers dismantling the set were English-speaking and traveling with the Rolling Stones tour, emergency services said.

Here is where I would post the footage of "Sympathy" from Altamont, but youtube pulled it this morning. What kind of creepy coincidence is that?

I have never been to the board, I have never been to the show, and I really doubt I'm going this year.

Altamont is sort of near where I live. It's out by Tracy. I've always wanted to check it out.

I'm telling you, I went through like a dozen this morning and they all said "pulled at the request of ABKCO" or some shit like that. After that, I gave up. Maybe because this one appears to be from Italy? Who knows?

    Thanks though.

Also, "Gimme Shelter" remains one of the most frightening things I've ever seen. The guy pleading with Mick to stop, the girl's smile after she sees what's going on over yonder, the fucking DOG. Meanwhile, Mick's dancing like he's possessed by the very spirit of evil itself. Like whatever's going on is payment for his success. You see him actually ENJOYING himself for a moment there. Shudder. CREE-py.

Still love the Stones though. A chilling portrait of the end of the sixties to be sure, Ron was right, but I still love everything they did until Some Girls. After that, it's OVER yo.

Their version of "Under My Thumb" from Altamont is the one that creeps me out...it's the proverbial calm before the storm. And they play the riff....so.....slow---it's like their so medicated that they can't stop something they know is going to happen.

Mob, you really love the album, "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll"? You are then indeed a fan, because that's the album with "Short and Curlies" on it. Truly, truly not up to standard.

That record may very well be the exception to the rule. It does contain "Time Waits For No One", a personal favorite but still. Point taken.

I should probably be shot for laughing at a tragedy, but I can't help but think of that simpsons episode... "we're going to have a benefit concert tommorow for the victims of tonight's concert"... lol.

Meredith Hunter wasn't killed while they played Sympathy for the Devil. It was during Under My Thumb.

I forgot that song was on there. Fair enough.

Speaking of the Stones, I have scored both "Cocksucker Blues" and "Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones" on DVD over the last couple of weeks. Both should be checked out by any Stones fan.

I wonder if this will affect the release of Scorsese's documentary about them.I saw them this last go-round at Glendale Stadium(Sorry,The University of Phoenix Monstrosity) and the scale of the stage was truly mind-boggling.I remember being worried about the people who had tickets inside the massive structure onstage, like what if whoever was putting the thing together missed something that day, that would be a massive tragedy.I'm sure Keith would be the only one to survive...

They were both gifts. I've seen it listed for $30 on a couple of sites.

Have you ever checked it out? I can't imagine why the band ever went through with the filming? There was no way that the Stones would have ever released it commercially.
