Four Peaks is a chain right? I think I went to one in Texas when I lived there.
Then what am I thinking of? Captn I'm there the 17th-20th. Pick a day.
Oh, except on the 19th. That's our Tucson day.
Twin Peaks?
Last.fm
Big Boi/Killer Mike - 5/20 - Rialto Theatre
The Black Angels - 5/22 - Hotel Congress
Devo - 5/24 - Rialto Theatre
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - 5/30 - Rialto Theatre
More like Slapabro.
The only day I can do it is the 19th. EXCEPT, we're going to see Shut Up and Play the Hits on the 18th in downtown Tempe on the 18th, and I think a few of us are just going to grab drinks before the movie if you want to do that. I work across the street from the theater, so I'm available from 4pm on.
Twin Peaks! That's definitely what I was thinking of.
Shut Up and Play the Hits is very tempting. I feel like I've planned this trip already all on my own so I'm going to have to get some input from my better half and she what she would like to do.
You know I instantly thought that after I hit reply but c'est la vie.
Dune Buggying. Is that a thing down there? My google skills are failing me.
Four Peaks beers are okay. Raj and Hop Knot are their best beers. There's also a Nimbus location in Scottsdale now off Scottsdale Rd and Indian Bend, which is pretty close to where ONS is staying. Nimbus is, by far, my favorite AZ brewery.
EDIT-I should rephrase that Nimbus makes my favorite AZ brewed beer, Old Monkeyshine. Overall I am still undecided on my favorite AZ brewery. I will take this to the Beer thread now.

Fresh off his "JUICY AUSTRALIA TOUR"
There's lots of desert to ride dirtbikes---particularly Apache Junction. I no longer own any so I haven't gone out since moving back here. You should be able to find a rental place for off-road vehicles within the city and then hit up the trails either East or North of the metro area. Definitely dune buggying outside of Yuma. It will be super hot in that gear, though. So maybe early early morning.
the pretzels at four peaks with some goat cheese rule. also, i don't think i'll be up for a hike just yet as i have some medical stuff going on the next few weeks. but i am practically halfway between gribbz and captn![]()
We'll have to try to meet up then.
Just for anyone that cares I found this place. It had good reviews on Yelp and looks like exactly what we wanted.
I would say that's pretty much the point.
Speaking of Shut Up and Play the Hits, I'm thinking if anyone wants to meet beforehand, let's meet at the Canteen Tequila Bar. They have a fantastic happy hour and it's right across the street from the theater.
Or Hooters is next door.
Yep. Or Robbie Fox's is next door to Canteen. Either one.
There is a World of Beers opening right down there too; unfortunately, it won't be open in time.
Coach House and Patties are the two best bars in Old Town in IMHO. They are also walking distance (stumbling?) from each other. The Grapevine and Los Olivos are both walking distance again and good for grub.
DeFalco's is the best Italian deli in Phoenix, again IMO
Mi Nidito's rocks! The POTUS ate there too.
A true Arizona-Sonoran experience would be El Guero Canelo in Tucson as well. Sonoran style hot dogs are the best! You can also find Sonoran style hot dogs in some of the lesser neighborhoods in Phoenix. Try this link. http://www.yelp.com/biz/nogales-hot-dogs-phoenix Nogales hot dogs are fairly well know in Phoenix..
I am always amazed at Europeans and Canadians that vacation in our fine state during the summer. Come back in March when the snow at home is deep. You will not be sorry!
Cheers!
i really dislike that canteen place. the drinks are cheap, but the food is fairly terrible and the service has been horrible whenever i've gone. but i'm not going to LCD so who cares what i think
clinton ate at mi nidito's in tucson, obama ate at macayo's on central in phoenix.
also, i've never had a sonoran hot dog.
Such enthusiastic reviews. I've actually been here, and it was pretty great although I prefer guacamole to mayo. It is kind of funny how the burger joints are on Camelback, and hot dog places are on Indian School.
Also, Interpol played the worst set I've personally witnessed at Coachella, ever.
It's not that hot here.
