I love ragging on the Arizona Republic. the worst major metropolitan daily newspaper I've seen.

In today's sports section, we have a banner (pointing to an article on page 2) which says that while it's unlikely the Suns will trade for Kobe, it's not an impossibility -- "don't count it out just yet".

Just below that on page 1 is a different article on the Suns' trade possiblities, and it says the Lakers would move back to Minneapolis before trading Kobe to the Suns.

I guess the page editor called in sick yesterday.

The Republic is weak sauce, though.

I saw that too today; pretty funny stuff. Our entire news setup here is pretty embarrassing but the Republic is the worst.

    Seconded...

I had a good time living there, probably too good... I could do without some of their old Mormon laws, mainly involving liquor...

    Mesa, perhaps?

Phoenix has actually caught up with a lot of states and now sells liquor until (gasp!) two am.

Haha....Tempe, actually... But then again, it was 7 years ago.

I still like the area a lot, would've been even more with an ocean close by... ..Less than 3 hours...

I've lived in Phoenix for 13 years. That does not include when I was away at college but spent summers and breaks there. I'd still be there if I wasn't in grad school, so I am giving myself permission here.

Yeah, I was there too. Excellent show that was overshadowed by their 10 year anniversary the next night in Vegas. You have the Touring Band 2000 DVD? They got a couple of songs from this show on that DVD.

That was a great show. Mmm, lawn tickets at Desert Sky in a monsoon...

For the first two songs, at least.

Yep. 12 times in total. Plus a Letterman appearance.

In Phoenix, the 1998, 2000, and 2003 shows.

Beautiful...best rain storm concert experience for me was seeing Peter Murphy at Mesa amp, in 1990. Was soaked to the bone.

I cant believe Desert Sky (aka Cricket) is still operating. What a dump. At least, it used to be...

I remember being stuck in a thunderstorm at Springfest out at COMPTON TERRACE (remember that hole?) in 1993. I can't for the life of me remember who was playing but I remember the speakers that were hanging were swinging back and forth and they looked like they were going to drop so they had to stop the show before the band got killed.

I missed PJ twice because of that whole Ticketbastard debacle.

I've seen some very memorable shows at Desert Sky/Blockbuster/Cricket/whatever-the-fuck-its-called. REM, all the lollas I went to, NIN w/ Bowie, Pumpkins, Beasties, Cypress Hill, etc.

Compton Terrace? Egad. I cringe every time I pass it.

I saw NIN with Bowie there. I was front and center for that show. Amazing. I haven't seen a show there in years.

I saw my first Morrissey concert at Compton Terrace. Thank God that place is no longer used.

Nice. Were all of these shows in 2000?

I remember that too. We were barely underneath all of the way to the left, so we felt a little bit of the rain. But I did not envy the lawn people. It made for quite the scene though with the lightning and all.

Last show I saw there was the Q-fest...think that was in 90, or 92. Jesus Jones played their first US show there. Social D was the headliner.
