I haven't decided if I'm doing it pale pink or lavender first. I suspect it will depend on the bleaching: if I can get it almost white, I'll go purple; if it won't budge past pale yellow, I'll have to do the pink first ('cause pink can go over pale yellow without ill effects).

I like weird hair colors best on fair skinned people, but I also agree that color is really cute. Keep it for a month or so and see what you think. You can always dye over it later.

One of my husband's oldest childhood friends is getting remarried after having been divorced for over ten years, and he notified us via two-line text message, saying he hoped we would be there. My husband texts back yes, and then looks at me quizzically and asks, is this what second marriages are like now? In his friend's defense, I think it was more like a save-the-date thing, because the wedding is not until next summer and the text lacked pertinent details, but still, we were amused by the delivery method.

I like the last one the best. I have vintage couch that I love, but it's really uncomfortable. I need form AND function.

Option Three is nice because of the high arm rests, but Option One is certainly the most "vintage" looking of the three (and would probably be the one I would choose if they were all equally as comfy).

I also like #1 because it's the "cleanest" of the three in terms of design.

I really like #1 too, except for the three separate seat cushions (love the back and shaped arms). My current couch has no seat or back cushions at all, just a single bench seat and back, which makes it look neat and tailored all the time, but which also renders it hard and uncomfortable. A single long seat cushion is my concession to comfort. I dislike multiple seat cushions because someone always has to sit in the crack, hah.

Aesthetically #1 is the best, but I bet #3 is the comfiest. I'm not wild about any of those fabrics, though. The grey wool in #1 is ok but would look soooooo much better in a color.

I think this calls for a sofa sitting excursion. The first two I can find here in town. The last one will require a trip to LA. ROAD TRIP!

How many people normally sit on your sofa? I'd think 3 cushions would mean no one has to sit on a 'crack.' Four people sitting on a sofa seems too... cozy.

I like the first one best. I'm short, so high arms on sofas aren't very comfortable to me.

i like multiple cushions because it's easier to hide stains or other damage. each cushion can be flipped individually. but i also throw a lot of parties.

We do have family/friends over occasionally, but I'm more concerned how comfortable our future couch would be after falling asleep on it while watching TV, which is realistically what would be happening everyday. Ohhh, those cracks my be problematic. I'm just getting tired of the back/neck aches that result from our current accommodation.

I've had our couch and its matching chair for over twenty years, bought for 40 bucks from our downstairs neighbors who used them on their porch (they were originally covered in vinyl), I had them reupholstered. I love them, they look fabulous. But now I shake my head at the stupidity of clinging to something purely for looks. So whatever we choose must look great and be comfortable, too.

#2 is also my favourite.

the cracks don't bother me too much. i tend to like over-sized and super fluffy couches though, which is hard to find in that style. i love the way it looks, but i want to feel like i'm inside a giant pillow. and i like being able to remove back cushions for sleeping space.

This couch thing is really hard. Reading dimensions on the internet and then seeing what those dimensions actually mean in your space are two different things. I had the measuring tape out last night, and I made my husband very nervous. He was like what are you doing? why are you measuring ? what are you planning? All with a wide-eyed, worried expression. He's not a fan of change.

#2 is out. It's monstrously huge. VERY deep. 39 in, same depth as a twin bed. My living room is small. Weirdly that did make me think maybe I should go big, but in a different way, so here is #4:

It may take me a year to come to a decision.

I love #4, but if your living room is small, you need to really consider what it will do to the space. Try laying out the general shape of it using craft paper or newspapers and see if it leaves room for other furniture, walkways, etc.

I'm all for a couch with a lounge on it. I wish I had one currently.
