Last month, I had an appt with a new PCP. I decided to get my Depo shot during that appt since it's within the same medical network as my OB/GYN. That office is now billing me for the shot, even though it should be 100% covered. I called them this morning regarding the issue and they told me to call my insurance company. I called the insurance company and waited on hold as the rep called the doctor's office. The doctor's office is claiming that they billed it to the insurance correctly and are refusing to change the diagnosis code to "contraceptive." I now have to escalate the claim to see if the insurance company will cover it at 100% instead of having it be charged against my deductible.

Ugh, that is bullshit. I recently got a refund check for my last few ob/gyn bills, which was nice.

Yikes. I think if you put talcum powder on the spot it can absorb some of the grease.

Link to the shoes? I want to know just how cute they were and how mortified I would be.

The FAQ on that website is great - very succinct. I had actually thought the other day about how I hadn't been street harassed in quite a long time. But then on Friday, right in front of my apartment some guy leaned out of his car to make sure I saw him making the eat pussy gesture and so I was reminded that while I might be many other things (like a human), I am also an object to be sexualized in public.

I had a mani/pedi today. I haven't had one since I was married 14 years ago. IT WAS AWESOME!!! Why have I been avoiding this for so long? I actually fell asleep for a few brief moments while they massaged my feet and hands. I must figure out a way to incorporate this into my schedule.

    At least once a month.

Incorporating mani/pedi's into one's schedule is the most arduous task we women face today. Best of luck.

I managed to rip one of my big toe nails off while moving (gross, right?) and the thing that bums me out the most is my doctor said no pedicures for at least 3 months.

ahhhh, painful! is there a wound? i ask because i tend to lose my big toenails after crazy nights of dancing (also gross). for graduation, i got a pedicure specifically so that they could put on a fake nail so my feet would look normal in sandals.

i only recently had pedicures myself and they were actually pretty fun. although i am really ticklish so i end up giggling. i like the massage chairs. i just can't afford something like that on a regular basis.

i am on day 18 of a hellish period. i am on depo prevera too. are any of you on more "severe" forms of birth control that any of you would recommend? i haven't had any luck with various forms of the pill. my doctor and i are hesitant to try an IUD because of my pain issues. but this depo doesn't seem to be stopping much.

That just sounds horrible. I'm sorry to hear that.
When I started depo, I spotted for about a month. I've been on it for about 3 years, and I'll occasionally spot for a few weeks straight, but never with pain or any other symptoms associated with a period.

i am so excited! my friend in NYC is flying me out to see my favorite NPR host kai ryssdal do a special marketplace show live next month!

it's really great to have something fun to plan for finally! my mind is fixated on fashion. my friend lives in the upper east side. the venue appears to be about a fifteen minute walk. i have a feeling we will walk a lot, so definitely bringing flats.

but as far as keeping warm, i always struggle with trying to keep warm, but not looking chubby in thick fabrics. obviously tights are a good way to get some warmth without feeling fat. any other unique fabric suggestions? maybe like "under armor" that is thin, but warm?

The trick to staying warm but still in fashion is by layering your tops, like a thin long sleeve tshirt (think Gap) under a vneck sweater, using accessories like scarves or snoods, boots, and cute hats.

Agreed. Don't be surprised if you don't need the layers. I was in NYC in October and only packed warm clothes. It was warmer there than in Phoenix. I ended up buying t-shirts there.

I like longer (below the hips) form fitting sweaters, ones that can be worn buttoned or unbuttoned. They accentuate the figure instead of making you look/feel bulky.

A snood is a scarf that is like an infinity scarf but doubles as a hood.

Too much planning now may prove to be ineffective because in October the weather could change from day to day. In other words be prepared for anything. Once you get a little closer you'll obviously have a better chance at predicting the weather. You'll likely get rain and most likely it will be chilly. So yes, layers are a great call because if it is cold it can be such a pain in the ass when you are walking in and out of places.

ha, interesting. it isn't until i travel that i realize my clothes are not really suited for cold weather. i have never seen a hooded scarf like that, neat. i need more scarves. holiday travel in STL is coming up too, ugh. it's also really hard not to check a bag for such trips.

also, it's really sad that when i looked up my friend's address on google maps and it showed the upper east side that my first thought was "isn't that where charlotte from sex and the city lives?".

I was in NY in November a few years back and it was still pretty warm. Sweater weather but no worse than that. The other ladies are right in that you will need to check the forecast the day before you leave and then pack. But it's a gorgeous time of year to visit. Central park in the fall is beautiful. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time.

well of course i will check the weather. but i am native to arizona and drink hot water all day at work because i am always cold. i am pretty sure i need to plan to keep myself warm no matter what the forecast and there is no harm in starting to think about it. plus as i said above, it's nice to actually have something fun to plan for and occupy my thoughts with instead of what's been on my mind this dreadful summer.

but i do hope to do some walking in central park so i can keep exercising while i am there and because i want to see leaves change!!! it looked like my friend is pretty close.
