ThatGirl, I agree with your assessment of this season. The first two episodes were not my favorite, but I really enjoyed this last one. The Ray/Shosh moment made me tear up, too. I think the episode really nailed early 20s relationship drama well.

this should probably be in the tv thread, but i really am glad jess and what's his face broke up. though they are both horrible people. i can't believe how they talked to each other. and the way she talked to his parents.

I bought this cute outfit to wear at coachella. it was from a "vintage" shop in New Hope, PA and they had some really adorable stuff. I could have easily spent several hundred in there, but this was only $35 total. the bra top is a little small, but it's stretchy so I plan to stretch it out and hope it stretches enough to cover the girls.

it's pretty much backless and really only covers the shoulders.

yeah, this is actually less than what I've worn to cover up in the past. in fact, I'm pretty sure I'll still go back to camp to grab a hoodie or sweatshirt even after I put this on! I get cold pretty easily.

I jumped on the bikini top bandwagon last summer at festivals, but with a tank top over, and it was sooo comfortable.

Speaking of lady pain, one of my friends just posted this link on Facebook and holy jesus is that ever incentive to be extra vigilant about the birth control. The comments are the worst part: putting your industrial size pads in the freezer before using because your vagina is in so much pain, postpartum pooping, dry sex for 3+ years following the delivery, hemorrhoids, golf-size blood cuts coming out of your vaginal for 3-6 months straight, etc etc.

^ Do people not know about those things? Chicks that don't expect that (and more!!!) must not have had many friends, close family members, etc who've had kids.

They've not even mentioned what breastfeeding does to you... beyond the "it might be difficult." I'll never forget how amazing my coworkers looked while they were pregnant (pre-natal vitamins) and how they looked like the life had literally been sucked out of them while they were breastfeeding. I will never forget finding one of them in the bathroom, crying, about how her baby was making all of her hair fall out and she was like WHY DID I DO THIS?? WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME? I've never backpedaled so quickly out of a room.

The whole frozen maxi pad thing was news to me. And I didn't know about the hair loss either. But yeah, I don't really have many friends who are new mothers -- most are either childless or have older children.

so i haven't actually personally given birth myself, but i have been intimately involved in the process, before, during and after. and my wife's experience (as told to me, at least) was not very much like this. I mean some of it, yeah, ok, sometimes, not a lot. but hormones manifest in different ways. the weirdest thing to happen to us was my wife screaming at me to wake up in the middle of the night because i was lying on the baby. The baby, of course, was asleep in her crib in the next room. Sound asleep, at least til the screaming began. many lulz today.

We read a book during the first pregnancy.. "I Wish Someone Had Told Me".. full of these horror stories. Scared the shit out of my wife. Then a few months after delivery, after we'd pretty much gotten the hang of it, she was really pissed off at the book for frightening her needlessly.

Not saying this person is wrong, more like I think everybody (and every womb) is different, pretty much.

As having been involved now in two births, I concur with this. Every situation is different, of course, but both instances were nothing like what Courtney posted. That is definitely an extreme case, from what I have experienced.

Much of this relates to how well a woman tolerates pain and physical discomfort in general. Most of them sound like they have an awfully low tolerance. I don't recall the physical after-effects being much of a problem, especially after vaginal birth (which is a piece of cake to recover from relative to a c-section, which is much longer and harder, having done both). I didn't lose my hair. Nor did I find it necessary to use frozen bags of peas or frozen maxi pads(!) or whatever. I've never even heard of women doing these things before. But you never know what your hormones will do to you; the emotional after-shocks can be far greater and more unsettling than the physical ones.

For me, the sleep deprivation was the worst.

It makes sense that every woman's body is different and will experience pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery differently. But it's clear that the worst case scenario is very, very bad.

My body definitely processes physical pain more acutely and my nerve receptors must be very active or something because I can't even handle a rough massage. I would be an absolute basket case if I had to go through any of the things mentioned above.

Also, Tom: lolz to lying on the baby.

For me it wasn't the pain part that scared me, but the raising kids part was what I wanted to avoid. However I have seen my friends an family members go through terrible post partum depression, physical pain and awful breast feeding experiences, to the point that it nearly ended marriages in some cases.
