I like Rodney Yee's videos, but it's been ages since I've gone a yoga video![]()
Pardon the intrusion, but could someone direct me to The Guys Only Thread? I wasn't imagining the existence of one, was I? It must have an odd title, because it won't turn up in search and so called "ordinary" words like "only" are excluded from search results.
My sequined fanny pack arrived, but the strap is way too long, but not quite long enough for me to wrap it around myself twice. WTF? I might give it to my daughter who can wrap it around herself twice. They must have fat customers.
Think about the sort of people who wear fanny packs.
Great interview with Carrie Brownstein on Rookie today: http://rookiemag.com/2012/07/wciby-carrie-brownstein/

I love this from the Carrie Brownstein interview:
Being creative is, to me, one of the only ways that I can really be vulnerable, and to connect with other people in ways that are uninhibited and meaningful. The more of those things I have, the more dynamic my friendships are, and the more that I feel like I’m communicating with people—whereas in sort of noncreative outlets I feel much more critical of myself, and just closed off. I think that for a lot of people their creative outlets are the ways that they are able to express most clearly who they are and what they’re feeling. So I guess that just expanded the way that I’m able to communicate, or my way of using language—because I’m a hermit, otherwise, a little bit.
Thanks for sharing! I actually just got the Deep Time record she mentions, in fact I recently downloaded it with another Hardly Art release (Magic Trick - Ruler of the Night) so it was cool to see her mention it. I also didn't realize she was working on a book, so that got me excited. I love reading/listening to whatever she has to say.
haha it took a little thinking, but it is doable. You can't even tell once it is cut. Or you can take a safety pin to one side so that it is tighter, then adjust the strap. My gf did that to the one I bought her.![]()
Has anyone ever been fitted for a bra by an honest-to-god-I-do-this-for-living-and-I-know-I'm-talking-about bra fitter person?
I hate bra shopping. I just went to Nordstrom for a strapless bra because I've always heard that's where you go if you want knowledgeable help. I'm a 36B, but she looked me over and proclaimed I was a 36C. I'm flat. No way in hell do I have enough boobage to fill a C cup. But she kept bringing me all these C's anyway, and it was horrifying. They were all big and pointy and it was like strapping bullet shaped echo chambers to my chest. She finally brought a B after I insisted. It fit okay, and it was pretty. I did buy it, but I was never so happy to get out of a store.
After this, I'm thinking it may be worth the time and trouble to find someone who genuinely specializes in this, who is not associated with a specific brand, who'll actually find (or make) you the perfect bra. Does such a person exist?
Perhaps try a higher end, store that sells lingerie only. Not any department store. I know people who work at the Nordy's near where I work and they are no more knowledgeable about that stuff then your run of the mill retail sales associate.
2005, 2007, 2011, 2012 W1, 2012 W2, and now 2013 W1 & 2013 W2!!!
I hate bra shopping. Every time I do find a bra that I really like and is super comfortable, it ends up getting discontinued a few months later. The last bras I bought were actually off eBay (new, of course!) because that was the only place I can find the bras that I love.
I just borrow bras from my best friend and never give them back.

I've had really good luck with the people at Nordstrom, BUT, you have to not only let them measure you, but let them see how the ones they've picked out actually fit. It does sound like the person you talked to doesn't know what she is doing. If someone came in wearing a 36B and wasn't sure it was the best fit, they would normally have you try a 34C. Most upscale stores will tell you not to follow the old fitting instructions of adding 5" to your under bust measurement - most bras today have spandex added, at least to the back, if not the entire bra, and they will stretch out an increasing amount as you wear/own it.
FWIW, a C cup really isn't big. It's not flat, but it's not big. Allegedly, the most common bra size is a 36C. I wonder if what people picture as a C isn't more like a D or DD.![]()
I support the idea of going to get a professional bra fitting by someone who knows what she is doing.
I had one a couple of years ago and it was revelatory -- I had been wearing bras two cups sizes too small, and having one that finally fit was an OH DUH moment of the most fantastic proportions.
High-end foundations stores sometimes offer custom tailoring.
So I found this place, {intimacy}, online. It's like 30 yrds away in the mall from Nordstrom. :/
90 sizes, A-K. The prices are astronomical(!!!), but they custom fit you and they do free alterations. I'll make an appt and report back. If I do purchase, that bra will be treated like gold.

initmacy does a FABULOUS fitting. they are pricey. just don't buy anything or get something on sale or something. but they do a great fitting. i wore a 34D when i went in and came out 34DDD.
the boots, i think it depends on what you'd wear with them. i also agree they'd get dirty, but it's burning man so everything will get dirty. i've always thought they are fun, but require the right outfit to pull them off.
I think when you have bigger breasts the fit is a lot more difficult. I am a B, there isn't a BB or a BBB. It's just a B. Now if they were to carry a -B it could possibly make a difference, but I can pretty much put my hand up to cup my boob and say, yep, it's a B. As long as the band fits around my rib cage and it covers my nipples that's pretty much all I ask for.
and i ended up getting a really nice bra on clearance there for pretty cheap (around $40). when sizing, they'll bring the most expensive stuff. but don't be afraid to ask for something more affordable. i think they also have bins of styles. also, i'm not that into thongs, but they sell some fabulous ones that are both sexy and comfortable. created by a gynecologist or something. i wish i could afford to go to initmacy more. i kinda splurged and got two really sexy bras, but not very practical. now what i do is going clearance dept. store bins to find my size for everyday bras.
