Maybe you could become a wet nurse? (joke)
I wish I had more milk ducts. Mine ran out too soon.
Ivy, the same is true for me. However, luckily the milk ducts are pretty consistent in size and position so I just ignore them and try to feel for any NEW or DIFFERENT lumps during my self-exams.
i think i'm just overly fertile. neither birth control pills nor depo shots are stopping my periods. we're now going to try letrozole/femara, along with progesterone.

I need to get my boobs smooshed. It's been years and I have already had one lump removed so I am suppose to go every year even though I am not 40 yet, boo. If I stay at my job I have the option in the next month or so to upgrade my insurance. I will be able to afford the better policy now that I won't have to carry my son on my insurance. I have so many tests and exams that I have put off, it makes me really nervous. I just can't afford to do any of it with my current insurance plan.
So to settle the debate, the most recent medical literature suggests that any lactation, regardless of duration or timing, is associated with a slight reduction in the risk of breast cancer in women.
This is probably due to the fact that certain subtypes of breast cancer grow under the influence of progesterone and estrogen levels...which are theoretically lowered during lactation.
And yes, mammography starting at age 40 (or earlier if risk factors are present) is EXTREMELY important in early detection and prevention of breast cancer. I have seen many unfortunate cases of women who present with advanced breast cancer in the age 50-55 range who never had a mammogram prior.....
What hate? I heard the stuff about all races not being represented as well as Lena Dunham & her crew being really privileged in real life/not having to work for anything, but I guess people just need something to talk about.
Speaking of Girls, there was a really cute and long (1 hour) interview with Lena Dunham yesterday on a sports radio podcast with Bill Simmons of all things. It's a whole hour of Bill Simmons just talking to her about her show; he said his wife is a big fan and he has gotten sucked in, too. She admits she knows nothing about sports, and he tells her that there should be a storyline in Girls where Lena meets a sports dude and can't connect.
facebook, there was an NPR report. i guess i'm defensive about the show lol.
i love the honesty. i love that hannah is not perfect looking. i also love that the girl who gets laid all the time isn't a stick. i don't give a fuck who they are related to; doesn't make me dislike winnona ryder any less.
I haven't heard any of the Girls hate, but it's probably because no one that I know watches the show. sounds to me like gripes that can be said about just about every show, though.
I have an appointment next week, hooray. after this one I'll need to get checked yearly since I'll be 40 in 13 months (). I was also in the high risk group of women since 3 of my maternal relatives have had battles with breast cancer and my mom had a battle with uterine cancer, but I didn't stay on top of it as much as I should have.
I like that she's not perfect looking, too. She looks normal and I love that. In the interview I linked to above, she talked about being naked a lot on the show. Here's what she said:
Bill Simmons: You get praised because of your fearlessness, because you get naked and you'll have a really uncomfortable sex scene. Why do people get praise for that? You created an honest character, it almost feels like it's insulting in some way. Like, "oh she gets naked on this show, she's fearless." That's the character you're playing. Do you think that's weird or am I over-thinking that?
Lena Dunham: No, I think that's really smart. I mean, it's funny -- you've just very succinctly said something that I kind of feel in a loose way all the time. So thank you for clarifying that for me because I think...first thing, I think that part of the reason I get that is because I'm not super thin. Like, no one's like, "Emmy Rossum is so brave. She always shows her butt on Shameless." It's because she's got a perfect butt and nobody is stressed about it and they assume she's not stressed about it either, but they assume because I don't have a model body type that every time I take my clothes off it's a battle with myself. And a lot of things are a battle with myself, but for some reason getting naked is not one of them. I just don't feel a deep self-consciousness in that part of my life. And so I think you're really right, that it's sort of like, there's something really condescending about...I mean, I think it's brave to do things that scare you. And this isn't the thing that scares me.
^I love that.
2005, 2007, 2011, 2012 W1, 2012 W2, 2013 W1, 2013 W2, and SOON 2014 W1 & 2014 W2!!
So this is interesting: 56% of the people who watch girls are actually male.
I couldn't get my boyfriend to watch more than 30 seconds. as soon as he saw the title and the description of the episode about texting he immediately tuned out. I even told him there would be possible boobs!
I watched the first or second episode of the show at a friends' house several weeks ago and I really liked it (I was already interested based on articles I had read though). I'll def check out the whole season on dvd/streaming.

I finally bought a bathing suit wooooo! It's one of those monokinis in black; have to wait what it looks likes on me (ordered two sizes and returning whichever doesn't fit). I wasn't feeling very open with showing my stomach this summer, so I figured it would be a good compromise. Hopefully it fits....
