Oh, that's sweet. It wasn't Pantera, but his friend Louie, who belonged to my neighbor. But yes, it's a huge bummer and I miss him a lot.

I know. I've got to stop reading this thread. I just moved to a pet friendly building and most of my neighbors have adorable dogs. So tempting. But I don't think I could keep a dog in a 1 bedroom apartment all day while I'm at work; seems so selfish.

I know. I've got to stop reading this thread. I just moved to a pet friendly building and most of my neighbors have adorable dogs. So tempting. But I don't think I could keep a dog in a 1 bedroom apartment all day while I'm at work; seems so selfish.

If you live in a pet-friendly building with neighbors with dogs, I bet it would be easy enough to set up some sort of pet-sitting swap with a neighbor who works a different schedule than you. I have quite a few friends who do this. A neighbor who works nights has a set of keys and will come and pick up and walk and/or socialize your dog mid-day when they're already doing stuff with their own dog, and then when you come home from work and go out on your evening walk, you take their dog along as well.

Erika is allergic and we cut down on a lot of her allergic reaction by bathing our cat frequently. So long as this regimen is begun when it's a kitten, your cat won't be too adverse to getting bathed. Our cat's pretty okay with it. His original owners were bathing him daily and when we got him, we bathed him every other week. Now, Tristan's bathed monthly. He is sooo much softer and fluffy, plus he smells good and enjoys being clean too. Also, he doesn't ever cough up hairballs.

At my house, I'm the sole cleaner of the litter box, the shredded pine stuff smells good and is easy to deal with.

i've been getting more and more open to the idea of owning a cat someday, but i'm extremely allergic. i've been reading about hairless cats (sphynx) but i don't know if that makes a difference. i've read some things that say the cats don't trigger allergies and some that say they don't make a difference. any help would be greatly appreciated
