    Re: Official CD/LP purchases thread

I too splurged on a European pressing (I'm not sure who is doing distribution in America) of the upcoming Bo Ningen album, III.
  2. The Kuba Ziołek Appreciation Thread

So there's this Polish guy, Jakub "Kuba" Ziołek, who may be familiar to some via his superlative 2013 album as Stara Rzeka called Cień Chmury Nad Ukrytym Polem. But this is just one of many, many...

Re: Tell Us About 2014 Releases

After my first listen I was ready to cast it into the 2014 abyss, but for whatever reason I keep re-listening and, in turn, it's really grown on me. It's Dad/NPR Rock, no doubting that, but I suppose...

Re: What boardies did you meet/see?

My favorite part about meeting creep Thursday was him offering me cheese curds within the first 20 minutes; he also made me some late-night eggs too.

    Re: Loudest band of 2014?

Agreed on both accounts. And what was so incredible about Bo Ningen's use of noise/volume was that it actually made the songs better than just making them louder.

Re: What boardies did you meet/see?

I met drewski, stinkbutt, sbessiso, creep, and hothamwater, all of whom were very good company during the weekend, and briefly met gps, wes, and a few others I'm blanking on during the meet-up (edit...

What killed me was getting to the end of this incredible line of craft beers only to see signs for Newcastle and Heineken almost sheepishly shoe-horned in at the very end. I thought to myself "Who...

Re: Upgrades to the Yuma tent?

It seemed the system couldn't handle when multiple tracks were layered over one another, as when the sound got really dense it turned into a bit of a soupy mess. Her set really was ace btw, it's just...

    Re: Upcoming Shows

Anyone else going to Factory Floor at the Echo tonight? Hopefully tonight is better than Sunday, as those sound issues during the first song really soured the rest of the set.
  16. Re: Was the wind really as bad as the weather reports stated?

Do yourself a favor and check the NOAA website each morning - there was a hazardous weather outlook announcement which warned us of the windstorm on Saturday and about the evening gusts on Sunday.

I'm really hoping these reviews get more people to go to their set during Weekend 2, because this band deserves the exposure and positive press.

They're also opening for Temples in LA tonight if...
  18. Re: Your top five acts of Coachella 2014 (Weekend One Edition)

Jesus Christ man, this is terrible - I'm sorry to hear the staff was so apathetic, but at least you guys made the best of it.
  19. Re: Annual summary of the awesome and not awesome

This was true for me as well, and it led to the lowest total number of bands I've seen over a weekend in a very, very long time - I think I saw 8 or 9 acts on Sunday, and I honestly can't remember...
  20. Re: Your top five acts of Coachella 2014 (Weekend One Edition)

I seriously cannot get this set out of my head - they did more in 30 minutes than most bands did with double the time.

Thanks guys; I really know very little about the group so I'll give both incarnations a try.

    Re: TY SEGALL

This set was really great, lots of Slaughterhouse stuff and 3 new songs too. I thought "Feel" was the best of the bunch, and it starts just after the 27 minute mark.

Ty Segall's set could certainly get very noisy, but it depends on if it's Slaughterhouse-Ty or Sleeper-Ty.

  35. Re: The Official Soccer, Football, Futbol, and Footie Thread

  36. Re: The Official Soccer, Football, Futbol, and Footie Thread

Credit to United yesterday; they played well, especially in the second half. Some shoddy refereeing, though, as if you're going to give Schweinsteiger a second yellow for the "foul" on Rooney then...
  37. Re: The Official Soccer, Football, Futbol, and Footie Thread

2014's really started to pick up for me, so here are a few short reviews:

  48. Re: The Official Soccer, Football, Futbol, and Footie Thread
