I would go:
Live performance:
1. Daft Punk
2. Chemical Brothers
3. Underworld
Body of work:
1. Chemical Brothers
2. Underworld
3. Daft Punk
Bless you.
1. Marina and the Diamonds
2. Monarchy
3. Lucent Dossier
How about banning smoking in the tents instead.
I just happened by the tent when they were on and got pulled in. Loved them.
I would dearly love designated smoking areas, but I doubt that would be all that enforceable.
One or two more Hydration Stations would be nice. And another Recharge Bar (or make the one more...
Whoever was on the mike was annoying. I had to leave.
If you like Banco de Gaia then you might like Shpongle
This. I caught them both outside & inside at Coachella. Loved both sets.
Horsepower might be my least favorite song on the new album, but it blew me away love (Hollywood Bowl).
They've played the main stage before (and were great). I'm guessing they'll be main...
I don't know. Last time in L.A., they (well, he) played the Roxy. A live set would need a bigger tent than the Gobi, but a DJ set? I can see it.
Yeah, I'd recommend "Tales..." to a newbie too. "...Tea Daze" is great. Also "Once Upon The Sea Of Blissful Awareness" & "Dorset Perception". "Star Shpongled Banner" too.
But not earbuds, real...
No one said it did.
I was wondering about the disconnect between true roots and raving myself. Odd statement.
So much for that theory.
God forbid someone doesn't like Portishead.
"No One On Earth"
"Alone Tonight"
Listen to "How Deep Is Your Love".
Played out "FAIL" images aside, a sticky that documents the lineup changes would be useful.
Or candy.
Bwahahaha. Is this irony?
And all you're whining won't change that.
Because they care? I would hope they're playing for reasons other than how others are billed. If not, can't say I'm...
Give me a break. I doubt those people have given in more than a moment's thought. I doubt they much care about what "live" actually means.
You're gonna lose that battle. But prescriptivism is...
I'm well over it. Long ago.
They'll learn. I don't have a problem with discussing it and people sharing what they know about what is actually going on in an performance. But to make a huge...
Can't say I care. It's all just semantics. Why the need to force the performances to fit these definitions? They're just labels to give the ticket buyers some sort of idea of what's going on. There's...
Fatboy should be billed higher, but does it really matter? Do we really care about billing?
Why not?
True. I love them, but it's ok not to like them.
Still, sometimes I need to live with music before it clicks with me. Sometimes it's a state of mind, sometimes it a bit of a learning process. And...
Such hostility. Might I suggest anger management?
Many (most?) single day attendees won't even need a hotel room. And really, do you believe that the decision had anything to do with this?
...
Fair point. But if the GA numbers are an accurate way to track sales, this doesn't seem to be happening here. And if the concern is one day selling too fast screwing up the 3-day passes, then you can...
You can't figure it out? Think real hard.
OK, I'll help. Sell single day tickets to the people who only want single day tickets. Sell 3-day passes to the people that want to go all three days. I...
So? Other festivals have shitty ticket policies, so it's OK for GV to ape them? That's the best you got?
Ooooo....lucky us. So kind of them to take our money in exchange for a ticket....
So?
You do realize that forcing people to buy 2-day tickets is less unfriendly than forcing people to buy 3-day tickets?
Read the board. They clearly are alienating customers. Probably...
Exactly. Not all change is good. And I fail to see how less flexibility is progress. Making things more difficult for your customers is more of like a step backwards.
I don't begrudge Goldenvoice...
:rolleyes I went from 2001-2006 without missing one day. I know "what the festival is about". I even already have my ticket, so this policy isn't affecting me. Doesn't mean I can't think it's a...
Was 2001 a "band" concert? Does Goldenvoice really think people buying 1 day tickets are only going "to see a band one night"? And am I supposed to believe that "3-day limits" on accommodations are...
They can allot more. If there are 3 day tickets available, single day tickets can be sold.
And it is interesting that every day's allotment sold out at the exact same time.
I'm sure...
My guess on this is that Roger Waters (or his people) demanded solo top billing and the only way to do that was to list everyone together.
But all that will do is create a scalper market for those who want to buy/sell single day tickets. You better serve your customers by selling the single day tickets.
The last Area Festival was years ago. Wish he'd do Area:Three.
Moby (live) would be a great add. He puts on a fun show.
If it was the same setup they had at Nocturnal, then no, not nearly as cool as Daft Punk. They put on a great show, but no one holds a candle to Daft Punk.
Peter Gabriel doing Passion would kick ass.
I caught them at Area 2. Very disappointing.
Anoushka Shankar
Niyaz/Azam Ali
Lisa Gerrard
This is brilliant. You are a master of the bleedin' obvious. Do you run around telling folks that water is wet and the sun sets in the west?
I'm not complaining that they're selling multi-day...
Meaning that people are buying 3-day passes just to get tickets for one day. Thanks Goldenvoice.
I'm also seeing that they're planning on selling as many tickets as last year. Last year was...
Did all those people get screwed in previous years? I don't remember hearing tons of complaints from those who were unable to get 2-day passes.
Instead, they're stuck selling the tickets they...
They must be trying for force people to buy 3-day passes. Fuck 'em. I'd say my Coachella days are over. It's been fun, but the money grab has really left a bad taste. It was too crowded last year...
They need to bring The Orb back. They owe them after pulling the plug on them.
Oakenfold even played the Coachella stage that year (the wind proved to be a bit problematic).
I wish they'd get back to the electronic stuff. I think they've gone too far to the indie stuff.
