How early did you get there for the pixies?
Did anyone see Nas or was he just not good enough for you guys to list him? I heard Jay-Z came out.
Mostly the Gobi and the Outdoor followed by the Mojave and the main stage. Maybe one or two sets at the Sahara and Yuma.
I don't mind hearing what went down the first weekend. Its pretty rare you miss out on anything major and it gives you a heads up to some bands or sets you may not have gone to that ended up being...
Some bands will have slightly different set lists, fields are more worn down, different forecast, maybe a few different set times. Weekend two has the advantage of knowing what bands played a good...
Set times will basically be the same based off the last couple years. The Pixies and Julian will both be there for the second weekend as well. When you go to the lineup section under weekend to both...
When you look under weekend 2 at the lineup it shows Julian and the pixies to they will be there. Just might be too late to change their posters and shit they have set up for the first weekend so...
I have gone with my girlfriend four years in a row now. We see quite a bit of the shows together but pretty much separate for a set or two each day, sometimes more. Like someone else said, you're...
Haha no not really
Not sure what her name is but I saw them a month ago and she was nothing special. Didn't really sing most of Kim's parts and didn't stand out. Not quite the same as seeing them when Kim is in the...
Muse vs. Nas is the big one for. Definitely leaning towards nas. Can't miss him playing illmatic on the 20th anniversary.
This is simply great.
Ty will be the loudest show of the weekend. Just saw him a month ago and there was certainly nothing from sleeper that was played.
He was on real time with bill Maher talking about illmatic. Seemed a little uncomfortable doing the interview but he was probably just stoned.
Can't wait to see these guys again. I got to their set late in 2010 and left early to see dead weather so I was hoping they'd come back.
Just saw him a couple weeks ago at a small bar venue and he ripped it up. He as technically playing as the "Ty Segall Band" so I'm not sure how different the set or songs will be. He mostly played...
That sandstorm must have really fucked you guys up last year! Its all I hear about from the people who went the first weekend.
If you're camping you can bring in a couple cases of canned beers of your choosing. As for inside the festival, there haven't been a lot of good choices in the past but this year they are going to...
I've never listened to them but I'll take your word for it. Everyone I know seems to hate them.
My list of essential bands to avoid this year:
-the head and the heart
-city and colour
As long as I avoid these I should have nothing to complain about this year
I was a little disappointed with MGMT in 2010 but still liked the show. I saw them recently in Vegas and it is more of a trippy show than it used to be. The visuals are pretty awesome and their...
Just saw ty segall last weekend in vegas at a small bar venue and he was great. Their encore consisted of 2 AC/DC covers and a van halen cover which was pretty weird but also pretty great. Can't wait...
I think in almost any given year you can find another festival that has a better lineup. With that being said, Coachella is almost always near the top as far as best lineups for the year and they...
Can't go wrong with Sierra Nevada or Anderson Valley.
I'm loving everything I heard from them. When I heard you've got it all wrong by them I immediately thought of the smiths.
The douchebags are unavoidable. I have found that they typically like the shitty bands. Avoid the shitty bands. Avoid the douchebags.
I've arrived after dark 3 of my 4 years and the wait usually isn't terrible aside from one year. Takes a couple hours to get through the line and security checks. Its much better to get there during...
I bring in a small backpack, the same one I use for school, and it works out just fine. As for a few major tips I would give. Bring a canopy to cover your tent area, drink a lot of water, bring...
Look in any direction in the campgrounds and you'll find one. Good luck.
1. Outkast (No one else is close)
2. The Bots
3. Dum Dum Girls
4. The Preatures
5. The Replacements
1. Ty Segall
Probably the band I'm most excited about that I didn't know about before the lineup came out
Ty Segall is a must. He's in my top 5 for the weekend and absolutely destroys it live. Check out the songs "girlfriend" and "imaginary person" for an idea of what his music sounds like.
Try segall. One of the best names on the whole poster.
Saw fuzz a few months ago and they were awesome. Not quite the same when ty is playing the drums though.
Yeah I've seen them a few times now and they seem to be a little less crazy every time.
Black lips announced a new album coming out in March. Would love to see them there again.
Looks like the violent femmes are on a good portion of peoples lists. Can't wait to see them next week!
We left around 8 or 9 last year on Monday and were out of there in 15 minutes. We were near the exit though.
Local natives are cool. Blur and band of horses as well.
Weekend 2 has now jumped down to the mid-80's according to Accuweather. Please stay there!!!
Very happy overall. Only major conflict is New Order vs. Phoenix and I have already picked New Order. Saw Phoenix in 2010 so that made the choice easy.
Jeff the brotherhood
Weekend 2 is slowly creeping into the high 90s. I'm having flashbacks of 106 from last year. Fuck!!!
Phoenix/New Order (new order wins)
Metric/Johnny Marr (gonna watch all of marr and catch the end of metric)
Cloud Nothings/Smith Westerns (leaning towards the smith westerns)
Anyone see them recently with the new guitarist? I hear he's pretty awesome. I just wish frusciante was going to be there.
So what you're saying is they won't be there?
Pretty much any time, day or night, there will be people up and walking around. People are usually up drinking/dancing for the most part for a couple hours after the festival grounds close.
It truly was terrible. Was completely worth it to be up close for arcade fire though. They fucking killed it that year.
Name some of the bands you're looking forward to seeing and that will give me an idea of what other types of bands you will like.
