Change me from maybe to 95% sure I'll be there. For Ralph's meeting time, I vote 10:30 ish. We really want Lot 8, and I'm sure we kill the "too close" risk with a 2-3 hour cushion.
I have my pass + car camping for weekend 1. I am 75% sure I will be there, but I have a billion other things going on right now and I may have to cancel. May not know for sure until the week of.
One must wonder about the choice of wording. "no longer available" versus "sold out."
Hilarious ebay listing (not mine):
3rd picture. derp.
Interestingly, the NOTAM is not a 'temporary flight restriction' (TFR). TFRs--stay the hell out of the airspace, no exceptions--are posted for legit stuff like presidential movement, forest...
Here's the actual FAA NOTAM:
"!TRM 04/009 (KPSP A0107/12) TRM AIRSPACE AIRCRAFT CONGESTION 2000/BLW 2 NMR TRM311005 AIRCRAFT INCLUDING BANNER TOWING AND MEDIA, ARE STRONGLY REQUESTED TO REMAIN AT...
I certainly wouldn't try putting it in my tent. It isn't small--I was thinking of putting it in a typical semi-enclosed canopy to provide a little relief during the morning heat. I may be bringing a...
Has anyone ever tried an evaporative cooler before? Mister setups seem popular, and there is some discussion of hand-held coolers in the equipment deals thread. A full evaporative cooler like this...
I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE.
Anyways. I'll definitely be buying week 1. I suspect I can still get week 2 many months from now if it came to that.
To honor our namesake... weekend 2 AMIRITE???
But seriously, I vote weekend 1.
No that isn't mine. Surely I'm not the first person to curiously check Ebay.
Definitely without peanut butter, or whatever it was. Inside joke from last year--I'm not sure when it happened, but something that looked like peanut butter got smeared on several of the tarps.
Whoops. I had no idea. My apologies.
Among other things, I will bring:
1 brown sun-blocking tarp, now sans (?) peanut butter.
The Coleman propane grill stove from last year.
LED lantern, should be good at lighting the EZ-up...
Pics were taken 4/10/2011, about 10:00 am. Pic quality isn't great, I used my crappy 8-year-old camera and did my best. I noticed in car camping lot 5 that 1) there seems to be lateral (10 ft.?)...
Oops I forgot I'm not allowed to post pictures of the set prior to the event.
I've got all day Thursday, so I'll be there as early as anyone else is willing to be there. Noon sounds fine.
Now, what about community logistics? Who brought the EZ-up and tarps last year (I...
I wonder how much shorter? This could be a cool Freakonomics experiment...how much time are people willing to buy for $5? A 1.5 hour line instead of a 2-hour line? Or, ten minutes instead of three...
Best you not live up to your namesake and BUY YOUR CAMPING PASSES ASAP. You probably noticed the other threads that the tent camping is already sold out (within minutes of going...
Good times! I'll do my best to come back next year.
Here's the FB group again for those who missed it.
Gonna nitpick. I admit I haven't been to the area, but there is only one Ralph's on Jefferson 49908 according to the Ralph's home page. If you look at the satellite view on google maps, all I see at...
OK I talked to Ed, I'm bringing my grill/stove thing linked above, so the rest of you can lighten your loads if you want.
I own this:
Want me to bring it? I don't think I have a good pan, but I'll pack the best one I got.
As for the...
2010 bump. I looked at the FAQ, but no definitive guidance there.
Since propane cooking appliances are new for 2010, anyone know if propane lanterns are OK? I'm guessing probably not.
Cool group, sign me up, I have a camping pass, PM sent.
