Why isn't Radiohead on this list?
I heard they just sold out? http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/buzzbands/
This is unheard of...(glad I got my tickets a long time ago).
I live in Austin and I get a free platinum pass every year. I think...yeah, I'll go.
Well I know a lot of you out there have different tastes in eletronic music, but my guess would be Infected Mushroom.
Regardless, nothing will be DAFT PUNK-quality this year. :(
Where Chicane would be WAY up on my list of performers in the Sahara tent (next to Underworld WITH Darren Emerson), I know it's just a dream...:(
I've seen Klaxons and Digitalism. Both are amazing live.
*Sigh* such a beautiful track, agreed. I hope she plays it. Do you think she'll play it?
...Vespertine or Homogenic...grrr, both great albums. Well, my favorite track is on Homogenic so I guess that wins.
Allison and I are in love and there's nothing you can do about it! *sigh*
Autolux is AWESOME. Man I love that band. When will they be playing again!? GRRRRR
I was there up front and I could have sworn I heard El Scorcho...hrmm...
Yeah, that guy needs to stick to the UNKLE-ish type music.
Don't worry, see Digitilism/Mstrkrft/Infected Mushroom and you'll feel that the void has been filled. :)
Put me down for Future Perfect. This is a great band, never seen them live though.
This isn't in order, but I will say that Daftpunk was the best show of last year for me.
1) Daftpunk - Coachella (CA)
2) Radiohead - Bonarroo (TN)
3) Bloc Party - Stubbs BBQ (TX)
4) ...
You know, some of these bands mentioned are better for smaller venues too.
Perfect example: Sigur Ros
I saw them at Bass Concert Hall and the Austin Music Hall in Austin, TX. Both were...
Yeah the bubble thing was cool but they weren't on long at all! I couldn't really think about them much because I was just trying to get as close as possible for my favorite band (who played next ;)...
Yeah, I forgot to mention it but the Depeche Mode was kind of the same way at Coachella. I saw them in San Antonio, TX and really dug the music but for some reason was a little annoyed by their show...
Anyone here been stoked about a show only to feel let down at the end?
2006 - Massive Attack comes to mind (their sound just wasn't reproduced well live)
2005 - Weezer (ever since Rivers Cuomo...
Funny post. 2 comments:
1) Lamb - I wouldn't consider them one of "those" types of bands, hehe.
2) Have you ever heard Rufus Wainwright? I think he would be this years candidate. :)
I would like to just make a few complaints:
First, I'm complaining about the people that are complaining about the complainers.
I'm also complaining about people like myself for complaining...
Haha, me too! :)
...but I heard you have cowskin couches!!!
You live in Backwater, California...you and the rest of your tribe must be very proud, congrats. =)
If I were you, I'd consider listening to Astral Projection if you like Infected Mushroom.
Flying here...I work at Dell and it's EOQ around that time so I try to take as little time off of work as possible.
I found my ticket for around 350 after taxes, etc...
I agree with you about...
!!! - Two times, very good. I look forward to this.
Air - These guys are awesome. I really look forward to this.
Erol Alkan - Yes, awesome.
The Arcade Fire - Yes, good, but I wouldn't...
Hahaha---err wait, I don't get it? I have no clue what is going on in Cali music wise before and after Coachella.
Word. Agreed.
There are some bands I wont mention just because of the 0 chance it would ever happen (aka Daftpunk, Underworld, Tool, The Smiths, etc)...
Rock/Indie music:
Radiohead
Sigur Ros
Death Cab for...
Wait, huh? Police and Gwen Stefani aren't at Coachella right? You're just talking about CAL in general?
Hey, as long as it isn't Freedom or Gabber, I won't chim in on how ridiculous the music sounds. I've been in the Sahara tent every year the last 4 years (this year will be my 5th). Each year I've...
does that mean we won't hear anything from UNKLE moving forward? This would be horrible news
I want to remind you guys that a lot of these points you make are valid, but these DJs don't typically put on the club sets that you are used to hearing.
I spent 6 years of my life in Europe,...
Shout out to the peeps in ATX!!! Man the weather sure is crappy right now! :(
I'm sure someone has already done this, but if you ARE going this year, give a shout where you are coming in from and a few of the bands you are looking forward to seeing most...
...
UNKLE is one of my favorite groups. DJ Krush was at SXSW last year (I'm in Austin, TX) and as always it was awesome. Agreed on the music. AVB + JXL was tighhhttt though (except for the 24 theme...
That's EXACTLY what I'm saying. Oakie in clubs these days = ZzzZzzZzz, but at Coachella last year, was great.
Carl Cox and Daft Punk stole the show last year. I think Daft Punk might have been...
I don't know. I saw post-Emerson Underworld at Coachella a few years ago, and it was pretty solid. It was better than Emerson's solo set the day before.[/QUOTE]
I do agree with that statement,...
In reference to "Rabbit in Your Headlights" -- he did in Austin, TX/ Los Angeles, CA/ and South Beach, FL...;)
Those were 1.5 hour+ sets though, so you may be right.
Did you see Paul van Dyk's set back in 2004? It was awesome. It was funny how Ferry Corsten played into his set a bit...heh-heh. These guys aren't going to be playing the club sets they play in...
I've seen a lot of posts about the Sahara Tent being weak this year. I disagree. I would question that a majority of the people that are disappointed have probably never seen these bands.
I...
