  1. Re: Looking for a rental for 6-8 people for weekend 1

That 2nd one is like 40 minutes from the festival.
  2. Looking for a rental for 6-8 people for weekend 1

This worked last year so I figured I'll try it again - we are looking for a house/condo rental for 6-8 people for weekend 1. If anyone is renting a place, PM me or reply to this post.

    Thanks!
  3. Re: When did Goldenvoice officially start hating dubstep?

I'm referring to dubstep that stems from sound system culture, however you want to spin that. I know some old school dub artists don't quite fit Coachella, but you have guys making good deep dubs...
  4. Re: When did Goldenvoice officially start hating dubstep?

    Adventure Club? Are you serious?
  5. Re: When did Goldenvoice officially start hating dubstep?

That requires DoLab to book something other than experimental trap, glitch hop, glitchy brostep, glitchy Bay Area rap remixes or whatever other genre NorCal has taken and made glitchy.
  6. Re: When did Goldenvoice officially start hating dubstep?

    Why?

It feels like the sound has been given up on, which is stupid considering there is a massive upswing going on across the country with deeper dubstep, and a bunch of American artists signing...
  7. Re: When did Goldenvoice officially start hating dubstep?

They didn't even go for Mala in Cuba live, which was kinda surprising since it comes off like something that fits Coachella perfectly.
  8. Re: When did Goldenvoice officially start hating dubstep?

That shit was so embarrassing. Dude is literally one of my musical heroes and I made it through 15 minutes of that shit.
  9. Re: When did Goldenvoice officially start hating dubstep?

I didn't see Scuba hiding at the bottom of day 3. He's awesome but he'll be on at like 11 AM, given his poster spot.
  10. When did Goldenvoice officially start hating dubstep?

How has Coachella gone from having one of the best dub/dnb lineups ever (2011) to not having a single representative of actual sound system culture on the lineup? With all the completely replaceable...

  12. Request - Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip - Abstract and the Dragon live

This set would be so nuts. Favorite mixtape of the year for sure.

  14. December 11th - Truth & N-Type in Los Angeles!

This looks like it's going to be one of the best dubstep shows in LA in a long time, and it's 21+ so no annoying children. The Medusa Lounge is a really cool venue too!

  15. Re: What drum n bass artists could actually work in the Sahara?

Yeah Roni's set was sparse (though it was also up against Wu Tang/Red Hot). All the guys from that era are pretty much fucked on a Sahara spot, minus Andy C.

Actually, add Andy C to my list. So...

Re: Chase & Status for 2014

That was my favorite part of the set - the bass dropped and the crowd did a collective "holy shit."
  17. What drum n bass artists could actually work in the Sahara?

    By "actually work," I mean...

    - have enough appeal with the 18-23 crowd to fill the tent
    - play tunes that are relevant to that crowd and ravey enough to fit all the bells and whistles the tent...
  18. Another even-numbered year, another Flying Lotus set

I have seen this dude hundreds of times and never get tired of it. FlyLo on an even-numbered year seems like tradition at this point, and I'm more than OK with that.

Re: Chase & Status for 2014

The Sahara added so much to their show though. The subs during Eastern Jam were nuts and the smaller crowd just made them heavier. I'd be all for re-living that 2011 set.

    Re: 2014 Rumors/Confirmations/Whatever/Etc.

Yoko Ono would be this year's Lee Scratch Perry - a lot of people claim they're going to watch it, less than half those people show up, 90% of those people leave 3 songs in when they realize they're...

Just give me one Squarepusher set and I'll tolerate not going into the trap-infested waters of the Sahara for the rest of the weekend.
  26. Mala in Cuba Live + Mala DJ set in the Yuma

I was lucky enough to see Mala in Cuba Live a few weeks ago and it's a stellar performance, totally something that falls in line with Coachella and festivals in general.

I am probably the biggest Roni Size dork out there and... yeah, he played some cornball tunes. :(

It was DJed very well though!
  29. Re: REQUEST TIME: SMOG/Respect deep dubstep and jungle takeover in the Yuma

The DNB artists had to go up against Saturday night's headliners, and the Pure Filth dome didn't have the Yuma's production value so people were less inclined to stick around. The Yuma is much more...
  30. Re: REQUEST TIME: SMOG/Respect deep dubstep and jungle takeover in the Yuma

Deep house has a nice following, always has, but DNB is big on all levels here. The underground scene is huge, Respect stays packed week-to-week, the warehouse parties have always cracked, etc. Then...

Re: Prodigy- Close Sahara-- Sunday-- NOW!

Would be so into this. If Coachella goes out and gets Drake, I'd hope for a Prodigy closing set to go up against it and save me from the softness.
  33. Re: REQUEST TIME: SMOG/Respect deep dubstep and jungle takeover in the Yuma

PS drum n bass/jungle is more popular in Southern California than any genre featured in the Yuma last year. That's no disrespect to the Yuma lineup, it was fantastic, just saying...
  34. Re: REQUEST TIME: SMOG/Respect deep dubstep and jungle takeover in the Yuma

  37. REQUEST TIME: SMOG/Respect deep dubstep and jungle takeover in the Yuma
