I've actually never been to the Bowl but am going to the Decemberists (Sec S row 9) but am really looking forward to Underworld (Sec J2 row 22- wanted better but couldn't afford it) - I'll be dancing...
I'm stoked about the new CD but it's not released until Oct (according to their website) - the LA show is in Sep, would like to have heard at least some to the new material before the show so I could...
I have to agree (though I was only there Sat and Sun). The only thing that saved it for me was the Soulwax, Hawtin, PVD block of sets. Busy P and Mehdi was just painful to my ears. I did somewhat...
Soulwax!!!
Major letdown!!! Already thinking about next year....
Portishead
Underworld
Trashcan Sinatras
Adam Freeland
Josh Wink
Soulwax, no doubt
Decembrists, Richie Hawtin, Paul Van Dyk, Soulwax
Honorable Mention: Justice, MSTRKRFT
The Do Lab is one of the best things at Coachella!
Yeah, it might not have been ideal, but it was great to see such an influencial band in person, which I had never had a chance to do before. From what I had read in an article, Shaun Ryder was scared...
Another set that saved Saturday for me
They were one of the better Saturday sets for me
They made my day for Saturday!
Anyone selling a Sun tix in the LA area? My friend needs one and she lives there and needs to pick it up. I know, procrastination sucks! Thanks in advance......
I've seen both and I'd have to go with Underworld....
Playing with my son, watching sports on TV or live, walking, dancing/listening to techno (I go to a club once a month or so), travel (did more before son came along), I used to read a lot but no time...
Joe Jackson is my favorite. Listening to him evolve throughout his career shows what a talented musician he is. Below are highlights of his discography:
Look Sharp and I'm the Man (1979) - What I...
The only thing I could find to call hate was the exit. Why not open more exits when everyone is leaving at the same time?
I'm bummed I had to miss the OT of the Dallas game because my husband got home and he hates hockey- switched it to baseball. Oh well, at least the Sharks won their OT game.
I can be there
Who's at night? (Other than PVD)
Joey Beltram played during the day last year and it was one of the best sets I heard the whole day. Also, they haven't released the official set times yet, so you don't know for sure he won't be at...
Sounds good - what time?
Richie Hawtin for sure, maybe PVD, any other EDM that sounds good and isn't too crowded to dance to.
He does play minimal most of the time - but I heard him last Nov in LA at Avalon and he was anything but. The crowd was in a frenzy. So I think a lot of people would enjoy his set at a festival...
I'm also available on the 21st -
Between the 8 and the 805 on Camino de la Reina (I think that's the street name) is that Mission Valley?
Saturday dinner hour works best for me - could be a regular or a late dinner or after dinner drinks....
Did we rule out On the Border? It seemed pretty centrally located...are they open all day? Are we thinking lunch?
Go Sharks!
Yes, I'm a girl, but probably too old to still be called that.....(that's why it's "Ms."!!) - but not too old to have fun..........
I think On the Border sounds good mainly because of the location...... I've never been there but it seems like a good suggestion.
I think a meet-up is a good idea! The 14th is good - somewhere centrally located is probably better - just pick the place and let us know where and when to meet.....
Sorry - I already gave this ticket to someone on this board......
without a doubt - Richie Hawtin!
You could spend the whole day at each (zoo and sea world) if you wanted - or just see a few things at each if just wanted to get a taste of what they are like. Gaslamp is OK at night though crowded...
Thanks for the info! Not ideal, but what can you do - at least I'll be there and I'll be dancing no matter where I am (I just can't seem to help it!) It would be nice if there aren't a bunch of...
Does anyone know the answer to this question? I also got the $37 tix, and want to be able to dance! (I actually tried to get ones closer up but the system wouldn't let me- sold out or user error?) I...
1.Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon or The Wall
2.Aerosmith - Toys in the Attic
3.Doors - Best of? (Double CD)
4.Springsteen - Born to Run
5.Joe Jackson - Big World
6.Green Day - Dookie
7.Yaz...
Comfort for sure - especially if you'll be dancing. I'm going to wear a pair of cool looking (I think anyway, but my taste might be questionable) tennies that I'm about to scrap anyway so I don't...
Not a link to the Bowl, but if you go to the Ticketmaster website and search for Underworld it will pull up the show - the catch is you have to buy 5 shows for the Bowl to get the Underworld tix,...
Ditto! But this year I'm bringing a smaller one so I don't know if I can squeeze in their stuff too...
If you mean large commercial type clubs I would say:
LA - The Vanguard, Avalon (Hollywood)
San Diego - Belo (Downtown - gaslamp district)
Mostly trance down here....
Way Back When - Springsteen, Aerosmith, Queen
Overall - Joe Jackson, Trashcan Sinatra
Now - Underworld, Massive Attack, Portishead
Yes, it says so on my ticket too!! just not on the Underworld website.....
4.28/29 Coachella
7.7 Decembrists with LA Philharmonic
9.9 Underworld (unconfirmed) - taking the chance - figured its worth it!
You might want to try Leftfield's "Song of Life" from the "Leftism" CD - it's older but pretty classic stuff.
#1 - "She Bangs the Drum" - Stone Roses
Great memories of riding a train through a sunflower field in Spain listening to it - so uplifting....
#2 - "The Bells" - Jeff Mills
Best electronic...
no, thanks for the info - just got my tix (plus the extra shows I'm giving to my sister except for Diavolo - cool modern dance troupe) - even if Underworld pulls out its worth taking the chance -...
Trashcan Sinatras without a doubt. Aren't Hue and Cry from Scotland as well? Lots of great Scottish music!
