Does anyone BUT Spooks ever post in this anymore? :/
I'm hoping they have something big yet to announce for Saturday, that they're going to announce after they sell some boat party tickets. :P
They look cool but I'm glad the boat parties are missable for me. Fun times but it takes so much out of your day.
Boat parties were announced:
I managed to rip one of my big toe nails off while moving (gross, right?) and the thing that bums me out the most is my doctor said no pedicures for at least 3 months.
The Mural Ampitheatre would be a nice location, and that sounds plausible given they are doing a dB night there in a week.
^ I'm just going to follow you around. (J/K) I'm bummed about having to pick between the Sight Below and the Pitch Black showcase.
Yea, Cara and I were just looking through the events and venues used, and it seems like we're still missing a few showcases too - I'm presuming they will use the Crocodile more than 2 nights, and...
There will be more, at Nordstrom hall.
The Showbox, Sodo and Re-bar showcases are now on the dB site:
Wait, so who ARE you sharing your "house" with? :)
I missed the news about the venues when I was moving last week. That's fantastic. I love Re-Bar and hate Neumos, so I'm happy about the choices so far.
It's really weird hearing decibel news on...
My school did those puberty talks where they separated the boys and girls and explained things like this. That was pretty much it. I got mine on a cheerleading game day when my mom was gone for...
A friend posted this today. It's SO awkward and fantastic.
I have the top one, and while I don't use it often (my current tub isn't very deep, so not that enjoyable), I like it. I love reading and having a glass of wine in the tub. Whenever I stay...
Yes. I've noticed that too. When I move, I'm planning to do some loafing about restaurants and coffee shops without any defenses up to see if I can meet interesting strangers.
BTW, I love going to the movies alone. Movies are not a social experience normally, so I don't understand why it's weird to go solo.
Eating alone is something that more people seem to have...
I'm going to stop reading right now as I'm talking about driving almost a thousand miles by myself later this month. :P
I used to drive a lot alone when I was young, before there was cell phone...
Oh yea, Pretty Hate Machine's original pressing has apparently become fairly valuable. We finally opened my copy at a record club a couple of years ago :)
I'm sure we've talked about this before in here, but one of the used CD stores where I went to college used to price everything relatively cheaply, without regard for rarity or value. Tons of Sarah...
Why taunt ourselves with London and Berlin shows?
Well, I really like the one I got which was recommended by boardies -- the Pro-ject Debut III. They are usually priced between $300-400. I think it sounds pretty good for that price range. I...
Yea, the microfiber brushes work fine for wet washing. I've bought a lot of used records, and even the ones that didn't look to be in great shape played pretty well after being cleaned. I just did...
We don't have many venues. That's why they are recycled over and over and over.
The worst crowd I'd ever encountered at a show in SF is still not as annoying as the average LA show going...
I'm rarely envious of LA events and only see one or two things per year that we didn't get in SF that I'd even consider traveling for. SF has it going on right now. I already have serious FOMO...
I think Zahn was at the same time too, and that ended up maybe being my favorite set of the festival
I was scoping out the crowd a bit during Function, Raiz and Adam X to look for suspiciously Spooks-like characters.
Edit: Nevermind, I won't troll you.
I thought the ug stage was a lot more tolerable this year, sound aside. Was still hot as balls, but at least it wasn't extremely crowded most of the times I...
So I'm moving to you in a month. Do you guys post show news on this thread, or is there another one where you do that, or... no?
I'm afraid to click play on that video from 2011.
I'd forgotten about those tables. My parents had one too.
They already posted that he was playing.
Those large elastic headbands never stay on my head properly. My sister in law handed me one the other day when I asked for something to put my hair back and I just looked at her with confusion.
The flyer was obviously tongue in cheek though.
The weather has been amazing this week (at least in Oakland county). Currently deluding myself that could be mid-70's and sunny all weekend instead of ever changing weather. :)
I know I've mentioned (gloated about?) this before, but when I saw the Haxan Cloak in London, the plaster ceiling on the building actually started to crumble and fall on the audience. :-)
It's pretty repulsive until you make your way to the front or side. Most people just stop right in front of the stairs, so it feels worse than it is.
I'm kind of bummed I've never checked out City Club before, and I don't think this will be the trip where it happens.
The lines for restrooms were really bad. My brother immediately summed up the situation as "out of towners who don't realize they can just snort shit in the open around here."
^ Yea, that was the drama last year. On one hand, I can understand why the management was upset. It wasn't just that the grass was mangled (that's expected), but that the crowd has no respect for...
They're still having it. Seems like details will be out last minute like usual.
Really? Everyone I talked to that year had a general idea who he was, and was happy that all the kiddies were corralled in their playpen (the pyramid stage that year).
Nice. Excited to finally make that party.
The pass is worth while if you plan to go for the whole festival (Wed-Sun) and if you want to go to multiple shows a night. The passes shouldn't sell out any time soon. As you've noted, buying at...
Really? On a Thursday?
The Haxan Cloak is touring the US in summer, so not likely for dB. Bummer.
Edit: Actually I guess my comment isn't really valid since he's back and forth between the US and Europe this summer.
Yea, for Phase 1, my list is pretty much guedita's, plus Groundislava, The Sight Below, and the Deru 1979 project. Need to listen to Greg Gives Peter Space (I like some of the other artists on...
That actually works out really well for me. Glad I made the decision to pass on Saturday's after hours, as Sunday is going to be a long day and night.
