did anyone see him this year?
still coughing up dust from last Sunday.
Yeah, the VW downgrade makes no sense. They had a huge crowd at Coachella in the early evening in a sandstorm. I can't see how they wound up on Bigfoot, even as a stage headliner.
In general, it...
which band(s) are in the behind-the-curtain shots?
Sunday was much windier, with the added treat of a ton of dust.
A few from weekend one

+ AT&T reception was great all weekend.
+ Friday/Saturday/Sunday afternoon weather was near-perfect
+ all of the music and art, really
- Entrances to the beer gardens (VIP and Outdoor) often...
that poster was gorgeous; also in the boutique:

interesting. the Violent Femmes crowd was surprisingly big.
one of my favorite sets of Weekend One. Could've co-headlined with Blur.
This year, the gate to artist/guest parking was through the VIP lot (1B), which sometimes made the VIP lot unnecessarily complicated as they sorted cars.
tell us more about these "right people" ... always wondered about the keys to the empire passes and that secret garden.
If you have a VIP wristband, but didn't buy a VIP parking pass, try to park in lot 1C. For some reason, they split the VIP lot in half this year and made half of it general day parking.
Did it take up even more space this year? Felt like the combination of size and proximity to the Gobi (and even Outdoor) stages caused more sound and traffic problems than usual.
Overall, I had a great time, but for the sake of Weekend Two-ers, I hope that they smooth out some of the weird kinks in the system. I'm sure the possibly smaller crowd will help.
Among the...

Just posted a big photoset from all three days on Flickr.
Did Goldenvoice sell more tickets this year? More fence vaulters? Or are more ticket holders just showing up since the weather is perfect?
...
Phoenix/New Order/Sigur Ros conflict is just rude. Or the best excuse for going both weekends?
Thanks, Filter Illuminati Hitler Nazis!

whaaaaaat?!?!
Any way to control which e-mail address / info it uses for RSVPs? Just signing in may have subscribed my main account to a million lists?
Not sure if this detective work would've changed my plans, but now I'm a Sad for not arriving until Wednesday.
Dumb question alert: Is there a point to RSVP-ing if you have a badge?
(p.s. thanks for the location advice; think I'm booking it now!)
Thanks for the advice! Airbnb is already pretty insanely booked and/or expensive. I've found a couple rooms and/or craigslist options in what I think is on the south side of "East Austin" -- a few...
I was just confirmed for a music badge and am hunting for places to stay. Unsurprisingly, downtown is fully booked. I'm wait listing for a hotel, but am weighing airbnb vs far-flung hotels. Any tips...
So outstanding it took me a few minutes to notice no Daft Punk, Rolling Stones, or Atoms for Peace. So many great bands in tiny print!
In 2007, the number of people who swarmed to see RHCP was terrifying. It will make it very easy to see any of the secondary stage closers.
someone tipped me to saline nasal spray as entry-level neti pot. I think it helped me avoid the severe plague, but could just be a placebo wet nose effect.
These are all so good! I've put the first round of mine on the flickr machine:

Here's one of my favorites, of Pulp, from Weekend 1.
I started going to Coachella in 2004 when I was in my mid-twenties and have only begrudgingly missed a few festivals since. I guess that the number of nostalgia headliners helps to keep the age range...
Honestly, I understand the fear of missing out impulse. That, curiosity about how the weekends would compare, and knowing that different friends were only available on different weekends convinced me...
Yeah. In my experience, entry to the VIP lot was a little more strict each day. By the sixth day they were checking wristbands and scanning the decal.
Overall, getting in and out (to get In 'N...
Too bad. I swore that I saw people riding in it, but they probably weren't hop ons.
From the number of people without photo wristbands carrying DSLRs on weekend one, I got the sense that security wasn't airtight w/r/t cameras.
Did anyone get a ride in the giant crane flower?
that set was perfect.
but photo/video etiquette for an artist who specifically asks not to be filmed or photographed?
I think I RSVP-ed too late. Any idea on the contact this for next week?
eesh. thought that these were sold, but the buyer fell through.
Heh. I'm about to do the same thing (staying in a condo now) for an identical reservation: Friday night through Monday morning. Not sure if it's easy to transfer, but if someone wants to try it,...
forgot to mention: these haven't been registered.
btw, still available as of this afternoon.
We have a spare set of wristbands for Weekend 2 and Tennis Garden shuttle passes. We're selling at face value + the original service fees:
2 wristbands = $310 each
2 Shuttle Passes = $55 each...
I made a wrong turn driving in the first day and saw the VIP sign; I had a VIP wristband (and didn't know about the separate pass) so the attendant waved me in. This trick never worked again and I...
You can probably double wristband it for weekend two -- just remove the RFID part of the weekend one wristband.
I wasn't lucky enough to be called, but the e-mail was plenty welcome.
Seems like the worst "traffic" is always just getting out of the parking lot. I accidentally parked in the VIP lot one day last year, and getting out was heavenly compared to the other two days in...
