Switch out Skrillex w/ Atoms for Peace, and add Pet Shop Boys somewhere on the bill.
This needs to happen, and I really don't see a better place then at Coachella tbqh.
Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but Avett Brothers may be a strong possibility for an add on. Playing in WA on Friday Aug. 9th, and they've never played OSL. Bottlerock seems like the only reason...
I'm going to have to say The Cure/Prince/Paul McCartney
Phoenix/Green Day/Yeah Yeah Yeahs as the early headliners
Dreamin big.
And all bullshit aside, I think Daft Punk is completely fair game. One of their last shows was promoted by APE at the Greek, and the extra 10,000 tickets would definitely help with the cost.
The...
I get that Phoenix is "that" band to book this year as a headliner, but I really don't see why OSL would want to book them again in practically the same slot as they did in 2010. It's kind of...
Yeah Yeah Yeahs --->The Cure
Vampire Weekend--->Nine Inch Nails
Mumford & Sons ---->Paul McCartney
With Daft Punk closing Twin Peaks every.god.damn.night.
Youth Lagoon tours through the west coast twice this year with no SF dates so far. They haven't played OSL yet but they did play Treasure Island last year (another APE Fest). All that plus a new...
Just saw the full Osheaga lineup too, last year OSL shared a bunch of bands with Osheaga (Justice, Sigur Ros, C&C, Bloc Party, etc.) I can definitely see them getting M&S since the they haven't...
From Squamish, I'm really thinking this will be the year OSL gets QOTSA. Also, I can see them booking Vampire Weekend, Young the Giant, and hopefully Childish Gambino (all acts who have never played...
Agree with you on J5, but I can definitely see them pulling Deltron if they're going to get hip hop. They've had a lot of the indie hip hop acts mixed in the lineup in the past (People Under the...
Atoms for Peace released Euro dates ending on 7/26 in London.
I'm hoping they're at OSL, but I think Lolla will get them.
Id love to see Fleetwood Mac at OSL, but I doubt it with their HP Pavillion show in May. But I still can see Stevie Nicks playing with the Sound City Players.
Last year was great with Justice/Sigur Ros (i was at Stevie Wonder for skrillex but thats a good closer too I guess.
I'm thinking M83 will finally make an appearance and they'd be perfect closing...
As for headliners, I'm thinking Killers are out with their show at the Civic. Based on my minimal fact checking and general assumptions, we' may get:
Rage Against the Machine - Ranger Dave's tweet...
That two Saturdays typo is hilarious
This post was kind of relevant, and then you had to go and fuck it up with that Rolling Stones comment. Damn you.
The shuttle is convenient because there are a ton of em lined up when you arrive at the Civic or leave the park. So I thought it was worth it, driving in that shitty traffic after would blow.
For sure man. I never caught Black Hippy live, do they give Kendrick a lot of more time to do his tracks over Jay, Ab, and Q? I'm a huge Schoolboy Q fan but I know a lot of people are going to want...
I kind of wish I saw OM&M at their night show, I had to miss most of their set when they played due to the mid-day schedule changes.
I wouldn't call em "arena" artists, but they are playing MSG. Which I find to be very odd.
Yeah you gotta go with the high ABV stuff, more bang for your buck. And liver.
Ha, I remember lurking the shit out of that thread last year. Totally forgot about it, thanks dude!
Just read through this thread. Even more pumped right now.
Bring on ze dealz.
I could've sworn they'd be at TI last year, but when I saw they were booked for ACL I knew it wasn't gonna happen.
The curfew is fine, I'm usually pretty spent by the time I get through those closers.
Getting out of there is definitely a real bitch though.
I can dig it.
Jurassic 5
Modest Mouse * How To Destroy Angels
Blur * Band of Horses * Alt-j * Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Loud Reed * Of Monsters and Men * Metric * Polica
Sigur Ros
Hot Chip * Postal...
That's a great one. It's weird when the upbeat songs put you to sleep. It was the same for me with Washed Out - New Theory.
Since OSL rarely books the same act twice, I'm thinking that the following bands are pretty likely this year due to recent touring and other festival bookings:
Animal Collective
Vampire Weekend...
I thought that too, OSL has managed to pull some great headliner/subs in the past two years so it wouldn't surprise me.
I have the urge to punch him in the throat when he sings.
lol
I never said they tried.
Best quality beer (in cans) to bring to the campgrounds?
I know it's somewhere in this thread, but I figured there may have been some new ones pop up recently.
This. I could've sworn Kavinsky and Toro Y Moi were shoe-ins too.
Sutro definitely needs screens. The crowds for Alabama Shakes and Of Monster & Men backed all the way up to Beer Lands. Same with Bloc Party's set at Twin Peaks, I couldn't see shit.
It was like that at the festival too. Lot of kids who chose their set over Metallica, it got annoying as fuck.
I'm sure he'll be at a few big US fests this year, probably Roo and Lolla, maybe ACL. I'd be happy to see him at OSL too but I don''t see it happening.
They put on such a great show, hoping for no tough conflicts b/c I'd love to see them again.
I feel horrible for your friends too.
I fall asleep to pretty much the same songs every night. Hoping for some recommendations from you boardies.
Here's what I've been listening to:
Underworld - "Louisiana"
Mr Hudson - "There...
I think a lot of people that have heard of Phoenix at least know "Too Young" or "If I Ever Feel Better" off of United. I agree that everything after that up until WAP is pretty much unknown, though.
Either you're misinterpreting what the word "reunion" means or you've somehow got it in your head they've broken up twice.
Really can't tell if you're being serious.
I agree, it was wrong to assume they saved millions. But I do feel it's safe to assume they saved a lot of money by comparing this years and last years headliners and subs. And I still don't think...
Actually, yes. Go on...
Regardless, it still works out just fine for them.
interesting enough, GV saved millions of dollars and are still going to sell out.
And the pre-sales for 2014 will sell out because the assumptions that it really can't get any worse than this...
They've all never played at OSL, and APE is pretty good at getting new acts every year. I'd be stoked for any of em really.
haha yeah I got that alert too. The lineup hints through Instagram were cool, but i prefer the twitter hints. A bit more challenging.
