Not my wish list, but 100% what I predict.
Jack White never did a big L.A. show, just a the Fonda, Mayan, Glasshouse. All GV venues...
Sam Smith->Kings of Leon->Tiesto
"I confirmed it until everyone knew it couldn't be true, so I backtracked and confirmed whatever the popular rumor was." - MotoRave
Kings of Leon? Any chance of Nickelback, too?
In for Roller Disco!
For the record breaker, Steve Aoki will press play and then launch cakes into the crowd with a special cannon during the entire set.
That Calvin Harris crowd picture is sickening.
Remember when Pixies drew what was then the biggest Coachella crowd?
Tears for Fears
Emmy the Great
Phantogram sold out the Palladium, which has a higher capacity.
I think the pledgemusic downloads go out next week. If not, then I'm sure it'll be streaming on NPR.
Gnarls Barkley? Yeah, no. Cee Lo's career is over.
People just love to be near a cheese dick pressing play, asking the crowd to make some noise, reminding them where they are, then dropping his name like it was a carpet bomb.
Muse was the same time as skrillex. To the people that go now, he's pretty much Jesus. Most of them would go for him over Bowie, probably.
i had a dream this morning that the Coachella lineup was announced and that Coldplay, Jack White and U2 were headlining. The poster was mostly yellow, and the initial headliner for Friday was Avicii...
U2 twice lol
Yep. They had someone whose job was to guard the up escalators so nobody could use them.
I'd say not great. If Coachella bands play LA during the fall or winter (and now summer) before, it's usually at a Goldenvoice venue. Not always, but that seems to be the standard.
Yes, security created some serious bottlenecking by putting up a gate before the turnstiles and only allowing one person through at a time.
Getting aroundon just English wasn't a problem. Hotels around the venue aren't cheap, but try airbnb and there are hostels, too. Public transportation is good.
Maroon 5? Jesus.
Fuck yeah, last minute hookup for Little Dragon at Sonos tonight.
1. Flying Lotus/Boris tie
3. Little Dragon
7. Angel Olsen
8. Blood Orange
9. Presidents of the USA
10. Blood Brothers
Of the seven times I've seen them, I caught them do "Strings" just once in 2008. I wish their final show was more than a short opening set, but beggars can't be choosers and them playing before...
Nah, getting kicked in the face during "Twice" will ruin the moment, and that's the night I get back from CMJ in NYC and Slowdive/one-off Asobi Seksu reunion in Bahstin. Erah.
I was heading for the exit and sat down to catch my breath for some flying lotus. And holy shit, so glad I did. Best set of the night. Not going to bother with the strokes.
Scratch that, they still can't arena properly. Only one entrance and it is a huge clusterfuck to get inside for darkside. Arena isn't at all full, either. And if you want to move from floor to seats...
In the back of the arena for Daniel Avery right now and it isn't at all crowded. Lots of breathing room on the floor and entire sections of seats empty. Not to mention, nobody is being turned away....
An early opening would have helped yesterday. I was one of the first few hundred in because I cut that mile-long line that went down the street right before they opened the gate (was talking to...
Seconded on Boris.
Broment of the night: as Atsuo was crowd surfing during the last song, these frat dudes took advantage of the chaos and pushed several people off the rail so they could take a...
Yeah, no Darkside for me unless they open the seats. Ugh.
So bullshit aside, boris, Slowdive, little dragon, slint, angel Olsen were all ace. Great sound all around, too.
Want food? Hope you have an hour (or two for lobster). 2009 lives on.
Need caffeine or electrolytes? Too bad because Coke and Gatorade are apparently contraband. Just wasted the last 40 minutes on...
The air conditioning in the arena feels so good.
Security's thorough searches started at 2:10, they let people scan their wristbands and enter at 2:15.
$18 is ridiculously expensive, but it is the west coast. They are so good that I will probably grab one over the weekend, though.
Yup. Inside now.
I'm guessing Damon Albarn and St Vincent due to the absence of west coast shows.
Free White Lung show tomorrow at Space 15Twenty. Get wristband at the nearby Urban Outfitters.
Aw, a proper place to sit would have been a nice break for some of those arena sets.
Boris/Grimes and Blood Orange/Darkside overlaps are unfortunate, as is missing run the jewels, but overall it...
If he did Coachella, would that be his longest US tour ever?
Good to know. Isn't Blood Orange going away soon as well? I agine flylo and darkseid will both be in the arena.
They're at that point where they are too big to really do much at festivals but headline.
Yeah, more of a going back to doing their own things for a while kind of thing. In any case, their set is a top priority for Sunday.
If they ever play, Imagine Dragons will do so in 2016 with a new album, and as headliners. :puke
If the doors open at 7, maybe 30-45 minutes.
I got in for night 1 of Karen O.
Iceland Airwaves has great package deals. Ticket, flight (out of New York, Seattle, Denver), hotel for $1100-1300 last I checked.
