I hope this is true. Would be incredible.
DFA1979 would be a killer replacement.
Hoping for Janelle Monae on Sunday.
That show was magical. Ah, the memories.
Thank you very much!
Any tips on transportation from Oakland? I'm just going for one day, so a 3-day shuttle pass doesn't make much sense.
Considering that they're headlining BottleRock, I'd say very unlikely.
Wishful thinking here: Soulwax and The 2 Bears on Saturday and Jack White and St. Vincent on Sunday.
Also this. Seeing him on the ACL lineup makes me nervous.
Oh, I'm not hurt, I just was a bit unclear on the concept apparently! There are a lot of great acts lower on the bill. I can't wait to see a bunch of them at my first OSL. Cheers.
Why all the hate? I'm going for the rock acts (particularly excited for The Arctic Monkeys and the Soul Rebels), but I didn't want to just parrot JackiePapers. I happen to also like some electronic...
Here are some "down-ticket" recommendations beyond the excellent ones from JackiePapers:
Run The Jewels - An excellent collaboration between two well-established rappers, Killer Mike and...
St. Vincent coming back would be incredible.
The previous HARD events have been the DJ setup. Some of their shows are DJ-only, sans video. The 2manyDJs Facebook page lists this HARD Summer show as a DJ-only show (no visuals).
Right? It's them, 2manyDJs and Disclosure for me.
Tiesto aside, Sunday has some pretty good acts (and a couple great ones). Disclosure, 2manyDJs, Nero, Rudimental, and Chase & Status aren't too shabby. Saturday on the other hand, I have to look...
It's sad that they don't get top billing. They're the best DJs on the whole damn lineup. If HARD had managed to get an Under The Covers live show, I'd have had a difficult time staying away.
Fair enough. I've seen them Under The Covers twice at HARD, once as Soulwax (again at HARD), and one 3.5 hour DJ set in SF this December. They're one of the few bands/groups I have to see whenever...
In their defense, they are phenomenally good DJs. Perhaps the best I have ever heard. That said, their Under The Covers live shows are next level amazing. I agree they are a different level of appeal.
They were fantastic in December. It was just a DJ set though -- I'd love to see another Under The Covers show with animations and everything.
EDIT: 2ManyDJs will be there! Check out their official...
Screw this dude. I kept hitting refresh on the page at 10:00 AM and managed to get my two Friday tickets. I was lucky. Lots of people aren't going to get to go. And people like him buy just to scalp...
Thank you! Very good to know. Fingers crossed for a Run The Jewels night show.
Are the night shows 100% closed to those without Outside Lands tickets? Or are there separate tickets that can be bought to attend individual night shows?
Sweeeeeeeeeet. I've wanted to see Run The Jewels since they dropped their album.
James Blake and Disclosure please!
Excuse my ignorance, but who is PJ? Not PJ Harvey I presume?
This. So much this.
The Shrine shows were excellent. I went in 2009 and 2011. I saw 2manydjs both times and Soulwax in 2011. Those shows were life-changing. The lineups for this year's HARD Summer and HARD Day of the...
Looking prophetic right now.
Per the HARD twitterfeed, the "line up is almost posted."
Oh man, I'm going to have to go on Saturday. Anyone know if service charge-free tickets will be available at the Fox Theater in Oakland? I wonder how quick they'll sell out...
Anyone remember around what time they announce the day-by-day breakdown?
Thanks bemerrit. I appreciate the advice. I will keep my fingers crossed for single-day passes. Question: if the two-day passes are two individual hard tickets (one per day), would one option be to...
I emailed the festival organizers, and they told me "I think it will depend on how ticket sales go. For now we only plan on releasing two day passes."
This is bad news for me. I would very much...
Jacques Lu Cont would be a great get for Saturday.
Iron and Wine were at Bottlerock, so I wouldn't hold my breath there. Also, Walk The Moon is going to be at the (free) SF Cultivate Festival in June...
I think Hot Chip are done touring in August. Honestly I'd love to see them again, so I hope I'm wrong.
My thoughts exactly.
This would be awesome. I'd go in a heartbeat.
I'll believe that the new album is coming in 2013 when I see it. And I say that as an enormous fan. Soulwax is notorious for their delays.
I for one think Metric and Simian Mobile Disco (live) would make incredible headliners for Saturday.
