Ahhhhh... Fuck, I imagine the crowd at Folsom can't be as bad as an Avalon crowd though. That place is in the fucking middle of the shithole that is Hollywood.
it can be. not consistently. (Ruby Skye is consistently that bad.) most 1015 parties I have been to have been entirely burner crowds, which is great. I guess typical nights it is more like the Avalon/Ruby Skye kind of scene though. I wouldn't count on that night being discussed being an exception.
I am WAY more annoyed with crowds at 1015 than at Avalon, but I think that's because there has always been more space at Avalon when I've gone there. 1015 gets unreasonably crowded. I also am less annoyed by washing machine asians and 50 year old asian ladies dressed like teenagers than the people who show up at 1015...
I would maybe compare 1015 to Los Globos, but with better sound. When the entire complex at 1015 is open, there's actually a lot of space. Most of the stuff I've gone to has had some of the rooms closed off though.
Flea, I don't think 1015 has been cool or underground at all in maybe 15 years? They did shows promoted as "103 harriet" for a while to try to dodge the bad associations with 1015, but didn't really work.
Well it's been almost 10 years since I've been there, so it wouldn't surprise me.
How's parking around Bill Graham? My girlfriend and I are probably staying at a hotel in Oakland. We were thinking we could drive to the shuttle so we could get back to our car easily after the festival since we'll probably want to stay in the city for a while after the show. Are there plenty of spots to leave our car around there all day?
There's a parking garage below Bill Graham and a few others nearby, but as for free street parking that's a bit more difficult in that particular part of the city. Though you could find street parking in Hayes Valley and then walk to the Bill Graham from there.
Perfect. Definitely a lot better than spending $40 for the on-island parking pass. We booked our hotel last night as well, getting so stoked for this!
I dont know if you guys saw that the mezzanine is having a (1-800-Dinosaur) James Blake and ?friends/bandmates? Are doing dj sets for a treasure island night party
Nice! Here's the official info on that: http://mezzaninesf.com/events/1-800-dinosaur/
Wonder if any other events will pop up that night.
rumor has it boiler room is coming to sf that weekend, in association w/ TI. not sure about artists/venue/date/time
All pissed about no Disclosure night show =/
Maybe they do whatever Boiler Room is planning. Glad to see the 1-800 Dinosaur night isn't canceled though.
I think it's more likely that the boiler room will just have a set up/area at Treasure Island, with a handful of acts spinning and VIP access required.
uh, where would that be within the festival? We already know Silent Disco is coming back, and I assume they'll be in the same spot as last year. Where could boiler room set up shop?
V stoked for HAIM on Sunday
When are the set times usually posted for this?
Just got my Saturday ticket :).
I was thinking of that too. Would it be pretty easy to catch the BART back to Oakland around 2AM? I'm assuming that's the time the 1-800-Dinosaur party lets out.
