Sounds like a good last song to me.
They seem to fit the same bill as snoop and dre. legacy act from california to please the crowd before we have to bring our vacations to a close.
I could see that song during the encore but I hope they go out on a song that is a lot more exciting to listen to.
RHCP is a lazy booking. No way around it.
im hoping the majority of the slower songs like scar tissue get out of the way early as well with the stadium arcadium stuff so they can leave an upbeat pleasant vibe with me. regardless they have too many songs stuck with me to be displeased to see them again. can only be better than last time seeing them for the stadium arcadium tour
Lazy or not, underwhelming or not, I'm a southern California raised kid and I love the Chili Peppers. I'm with most of you in that there were better options; especially considering they've played the festival twice already, but I'm excited to see them.
Personally would rather have Blur close the festival, but RHCP will do fine.
Let them be as lazy and stubborn as they want booking these has-beens, but to have them close the festival is just fucking incompetence. I honestly never expected this from GV. Have them on Friday ffs.
They headline a festival I going to tomorrow - Big Day Out. Below is the setlist (more or less ) they have been playing so far on the tour. It is very likely I will only bother with the last half dozen songs. I used to love this band 20 years ago but am not a fan of what they have become.
Monarchy of Roses
Around the World
Scar Tissue
Snow ((Hey Oh))
Factory of Faith
Can't Stop
What in the World
(David Bowie cover)
Universally Speaking
The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie
Under the Bridge
Look Around
Californication
By the Way
Encore:
Chad & Mauro & Josh Jam
(The Ocean by Led Zeppelin)
Soul to Squeeze
Give It Away
Final Jam
WTF!
sir psycho sexy is the only song i would really want to hear from them, and I doubt they play it
It wasn't a lazy booking, it was a last minute booking. Shit fell through and they had to fill it with someone...RHCP were available. No Coachella vet is stoked on this, but it is what it is and there will probably be a ton of people loving every minute of it. Luckily there is more than 1 stage, and the promoters should know that there's a lot of people who will want to see some other shit.
With all that said - anyone at their Roo set?
The Blood Sugar Sex Magic is a guilty pleasure of mine but unless they're playing it front to back, fuck that.
as far as im concerned, the red hot chili peppers do not exist without john frusciante
Special guests confirmed.
