I also picture the XX on the main then the younger crowd moving over to see Hot Chip close the outdoor after while the dedicated Sigur Ros fans are at the main stage set before Phoenix. Sigur Ros more than deserve the "Animal Collective" awkward middle spot in between the much more popular band (Mumford & Sons/xx) and the closer.
FYI, I am using the 2011 set times almost exactly because we had a 6th stage that year. Still, not having the exact times on the spread sheet for each act trips people up while looking at it.
There is absolutely no way Yeasayer is on the main. Sigur Ros may deserve the Animal Collective spot in your mind, but when has the #4 led into the headliner ever? In fact, when has the #2 NOT led into the headliner unless they are an EDM act, leaving the #3 to lead into the headliner? On the craziest day of the festival, I think the only undisputed thing we have is Postal --> xx --> Phoenix.

Your point of the billing on the poster is astute. I am looking into it.

Re: Early Set Time Predictions 2013
I think Yeasayer will be in the Mojave at night maybe playing right after Hot Chip finishes on the outdoor?
-
Re: Early Set Time Predictions 2013
Not knowing what the 6th stage will be doesn't make things easier. I kind of want to try Saturday with the 6th stage being Hip-Hop themed.

This is such a weird day, because there are so many bands that seem like nighttime Mojave. I almost think that 2DCC and Yeasayer will both be in the Mojave. Can we make a claim that Puscifer, Spiritualized, or Cafe Tacvba would be on the outdoor before a Grizzly Bear/Hot Chip/Sigur Ros juggernaut? I think those three make all the sense in the world on the outdoor, and the trick will be figuring out who is flushing it out. Dropkick Murphys in a Flogging Molly type spot might also be a possibility.

Re: Early Set Time Predictions 2013
Moved some of Saturday around
-
Re: Early Set Time Predictions 2013
I mean the way you have it lets me go Sigur Ros>Richie Hawtin>Booka Shade>Moby>Simian Mobile Disco>Hot Chip with a couple partial sets. So I'm not complaining too much.

Re: Early Set Time Predictions 2013
Dude. Benny Benassi is not playing at 5:00. He is the second highest billed Sahara act, he will be last or second to last. Birdy Nam Nam will not be playing later than Benassi/Major Lazer/Bingo Players. Simian Mobile Disco will not play the most prime Sahara slot, and might not play Sahara at all. I see that you are structuring this to provide a certain flow or ambiance, but with the main and the Sahara in particular, billing trumps all.
I'd guess that Sahara will look like Fedde --> Hawtin --> Moby --> Benassi --> Knife Party. Major Lazer might not be in the Sahara since they weren't in 2010, but if they are, they'd be before Hawtin.
And I still think Sigur Ros anywhere on the main is dead wrong. They will play at night, and thus play the Outdoor Theater. This seems to be pretty widely agreed on so far.

Re: Early Set Time Predictions 2013
Datsik was 5th line on the poster and closed the Sahara last year. Billing on the poster does not mean shit in the Sahara sometimes.
-
Re: Early Set Time Predictions 2013
Also with Saturday being as stacked as it is I would be shocked if Phoenix plays to a silent outdoor.

And he played during SHM so it's not really a fair comparison to this year.

Yeah I was fitting things too closely to the 2011 set times in some cases.

The only reason Datsik was closing the Sahara was because Swedish House Mafia was on the main. Same reason Boys Noize played against the Chem Bros. If there is no EDM act on the main, it will be the top 3 DJs in some sort of iteration closing Sahara.

Re: Early Set Time Predictions 2013
Didn't Sigur Ros complain about their time in 06 where the played during sunset, because they wanted complete darkness? I think Sigur Ros closing the outdoor makes a lot of sense.
-
Re: Early Set Time Predictions 2013
Sigur Ros cancelled their Bestival livestream in the last minute due to Stevie Wonder wanting a longer set time. They were promised a nighttime set and were understandably upset.
http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archive...ros_apolo.html
I think Sigur Ros closing the outdoor is a safebet.

Re: Early Set Time Predictions 2013
All of this just shows me that GV/Coachella will be really smart to give Sigur Ros the main stage before Phoenix....

Dude it's not going down like that. They'll be outdoor at night. The only question is what time slot.

Re: Early Set Time Predictions 2013
6th stage as primarily hip hop
Theo London -> Pusha T -> Action Bronson -> Danny Brown -> 2 Chainz?

Throw in some El-P and that is what I was thinking. Would be pretty cool actually.
T. London > Action Bronson > El-P > Danny Brown > Pusha T > 2 Chainz

Re: Early Set Time Predictions 2013
So I posted this in a much less relevant thread (dealing with Bassnectar stealing crowd from Blur/Stone Roses), but I'll copy here and post these tomorrow morning when I'm back at my desk:
I was bored and messing around at work, and there is a way to schedule Friday so that Stone Roses and Blur play virtually to an empty outdoor, with Modest Mouse in between (I had SR overlapping 5 minutes, and Blur overlapping 10). Passion Pit leads into Yeah Yeah Yeahs leads into Stone Roses into Blur, Sahara goes Bassnectar --> Dog Blood --> Infected Mushroom with Bassnectar mostly conflicting with YYYs and not Stone Roses/Blur at all. This scenario still fits Lou Reed to a silent main/Gobi, Jurassic 5 gets nighttime outdoor, and HTDA/Beach House/Grinderman all get nighttime Mojave. This would spread out the masses between Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Bassnectar, and funnel the crowd into Stone Roses/Blur because less is going on. Dog Blood is still a big draw, but they are nowhere near as big as Bassnectar.
I think GV will gently coerce the majority of the crowd into checking out Stone Roses/Blur just like they did Pulp on Friday last year (and to a lesser extent, Mazzy Star). They aren't big in America, but GV is clearly geeking out about this booking and knows the public is less than enthused and won't make it a big priority if something else big is going on. They are going to make sure as many people see it as possible.

So my thought process was that Violent Femmes with the higher billing made more sense on the Outdoor ala Jimmy Eat World 2011, and Portugal played the Gobi really early in 2010 so the time would make a nice bump for them.

I was kind of thinking along the same line... Lou Reed unopposed, with the Stone Roses having their first 35 minutes unopposed and Blur their first 20, but also think how spread out and loose the crowds would be at any given set due to having all the stages end the night together... Every stage kind of fits a niche.

I honestly think their collaboration isn't a good enough reason to not have them play at the same time... Lots of same-year artists have collaborated and rarely show up to play those collabs live...

I thought the same thing until I started reading all the hype around Prydz and his new EPIC setup... Prydz also has a lot more listeners on last.fm so I put him closing... Love PL though... Saw his two-night set in Denver last summer!
