Re: 2013 Lineup Confirmation/Rumors Thread II
Their clear problem was the inability to get The Rolling Stones. Red Hot Chili Peppers were used to substitute as a wow factor (but a pretty bad one) but if the headliners were The Rolling Stones-Phoenix-Stone Roses-Blur no one would say a weak headliner year.

Exactly....or the Knife really.

Loving the undercard though.
Quantity wise there is no shortage of good acts on this lineup. There's no evidence of other festivals being able nail down "big fish" headliners because of they have they stay around California for a week.
Re: 2013 Lineup Confirmation/Rumors Thread II
Let's be real. The majority of the people pissed are because of the Friday headliners.
A huge amount of people (I'd say at least 75%) have no fucking clue who The Stones Roses are. Same with Blur, but a lower percentage.
Re: 2013 Lineup Confirmation/Rumors Thread II
the worst is the people complaining about how now they have to spend most of their time in their campsites, because they're not enthusiastic about the lineup.
well, don't fucking go then. I'll gladly buy your tickets.
I personally think the lineup is great, headliners or not, there's many legendary bands and musicians playing... all the recently reunited bands too? I think that's how GV wanted to go about it this year and I have no problem with it.
Re: 2013 Lineup Confirmation/Rumors Thread II
i agree most dont realize how big of a deal the stone roses are to have. i'm loving the lineup. Most people who seem upset are yongsters looking for the big rap headliner. it seems to me they might be trying to reset the festival by lowering expectations and investing more in the overall lineup rather than going for the wow factor of huge headliners with holograms and special guests, etc. After the last few years expectations are now out of the roof. if anything theyll be a lot less 15-16 yr olds running around which i'll be very happy with!
Freaking Violent Femmes are playing!!! i'm stoked for them and many more.
Re: 2013 Lineup Confirmation/Rumors Thread II
Saturday is too fucking stacked. They need to mix it in with Sunday, which is the weakest (IMO)

I have to say being british that the very top line on Friday on 1st sight took me. But I understand that Americans may not like it. They are there based on hype and in fairness, them two co-heading is something that the UK itself would never ever get.
My disappointment is Pheonix but it's certainly not a big problem. I've a feeling they may in time try to add a band like they have done previously in years above them though. JT needs his 1st show over next week before he can be put up as heading the Sat due to contractual rights! ;)

Could be JT and neither can announce till after his 1st show back next week?
I've not bothered but can't deny JT above Pheonix would be better

Oooh, boy, is this an exciting day. Not only do we have more news from the big gear-industry tradeshow NAMM, but we’ve also got lineups for Ultra Music Fest and Coachella in today’s wrap-up. See who makes the cut after the jump.
- Paul Oakenfold, Dog Blood (aka Skrillex and Boys Noize), Seth Troxler, The Knife, TNGHT, Roni Size, Excision, James Blake, SMD, and, as you can imagine, TONS more are set to play Coachella this April 12-14 and 19-21. (See full lineup below.) (full story)
