Re: electronic wish list for 2013
Is this a wishlist, or a "Post your favorite EDM acts" thread? Daft Punk/ Underworld/ Aphex Twin? How.... imaginative.... I want to see James Murphy strangle TOKiMONSTA to death to close out the Sahara each night.... or maybe a different weak shit act can get strangled to death and fucked each night. You know, something special that we'll all remember.

yes, actually that's exactly what this is.
...and actually, as far as ambient breakbeats go, TOKiMONSTA is great. wouldn't look forward to seeing her in the valley but nobody to hate on. not to mention she's a very nice gal, which goes a long way.

yah, I dig a lot of tokimonsta's music. she played the sahara in 2011, and for some reason I feel like she had two sets that year? either way, I enjoyed the set on friday.

She had two sets in 2011. I caught part of the first one before realizing she was just pulling a weak DJ set.

TNGHT will be performing at the Mezzanine in San Francisco on 4/20. So it looks pretty damn good that Hudson Mohawke & Lunice will be at this years Coachella!

Re: electronic wish list for 2013
Looks like Underworld is fucking out. Again!!!!! WTF?!?!?!?!
April 2013 will see the release of Karl Hyde’s debut solo LP, Edgeland. It features nine tracks that were recorded over a year in London with multi-instrumentalist and producer Leo Abrahams (whom Karl met whilst collaborating with Brian Eno on Pure Scenius). Edgeland is a graceful and meditative collection that explores the limitless possibilities of what late film director Anthony Minghella christened ‘esoteric Underworld’ – something that’s existed on record since Dubnobasswithmyheadman.
Edgeland is released in Japan on April 10th and across the rest of the world on April 22nd on deluxe CD/DVD, standard CD, download and 12" vinyl. It is also available for physical pre-order in the underworldlive shop. The first 150 pre-orders from underworldlive (across all physical formats) will each receive a unique, signed and numbered photograph taken by Karl documenting the journeys through the edgelands that inspired the album. Each physical format purchase will also receive a digital version of the album in their inbox on the day of release (we of course aim to have pre-ordered physical stock with you on or very close to that date).
You can hear the first taster from Edgeland - 'Cut Clouds' and for a limited time only download the track for free here

Karl is currently rehearsing a new band in preparation for a series of live shows from the Spring onwards, the first of which is SonarSound in Tokyo on the 7th April 2013. More to be announced soon.

Re: electronic wish list for 2013
Karl Hyde playing in Tokyo 4 days before Coachella starts doesn't necessarily mean Underworld won't be there - they're still playing, obviously, as they're in Mexico in March. Though the timing of the 4/7 Tokyo date does make it more likely that we'd get a Karl Hyde set instead.

Hope you're right. (Not really sure how Mexico a month before confirms anything, but I hope you're right)

Eh, Mexico a month before doesn't confirm anything except that Underworld is touring in this general vicinity of the world in the same general time (early spring) as Coachella. I think with Hyde playing SonarSound in Japan on the 7th, there's a really good chance he's playing a set at Coachella. I can't imagine that Underworld is ruled out just because he's also doing a solo show - Coachella has booked multiple acts featuring the same individual performer in the past, right?

Fleming could get a pass, maybe, but not Man With No Name.

Re: electronic wish list for 2013
I haven't seen a whole lot of EDM, a few big names here and there. But I really liked Wolfgang Gartner. Highly recommend swinging by his set if you have nothing else going on.
On a side note, maybe it was where I saw him, but Skrillex was great at Outside Lands, until 1/2 the sound went out. Any chance of a hybrid Dog/mothership transformer in the Sahara?
