Oh, I did see Sasha on Friday in 2011...that was it though.
Sasha......damn that was good times.
I didn't go in 2011; however, if I HAD gone, I would have seen Shpongle. And if Leftfield was in there, I'd have seen that too. *le sigh*
Shpongle was awesome.
2009 was my first Coachella and the Sahara blew my mind. A lot of fun stuff that year. 2010 was good but I haven't really seen anything exciting since. I'm really hoping GV can revive the tent. There's plenty of talent out there to make it great again
Can't believe you all miss DJ Lance Rock
Sasha (sahara) > Chem's (main stage) in 2011 was one of the greatest musical experiences of my life. Every now in then I'll pull up some vids on youtube and relive that night.
Kalahari has a nice ring.
I'm not expecting anything of the magnitude like the 3 tents we already have. More like a dome or mini-tent.
It's a new medical tent opening right next to the Sahara.
Shpongle was a great time! that's the last time I've been in the Sahara...
“It’s roughly a discotheque with a wooden floor and air conditioning that’s meant to cater to the lost of art of DJing and mixing records,” he says, adding that it’s in contrast to the big lights and bombastic sounds of the Sahara Tent. “There’s a place for that, but part of what we’re responding to as Metropolis relaunches is that there are adults and other generations who want to listen to this music presented in a thoughtful way.” http://blogs.laweekly.com/westcoasts...ey_returns.php
Good Guy Jason Bentley.
Also, the A/C part has me worried that this new stage will be packed with people wanting to beat the heat rather than enjoying the music being played.
Wooden floors, huh?
So... who's playing it?
All the RA/"deep house" djs they booked this year like joris voorn, seth, jamie jones
The 2 Bears
Richie Hawtin (?)
Maya Jane Coles
Loco Dice (?)
Paul Kalkbrenner (?)
Hmmm....this opens up the possibility for extended sets. Which could be cool.
Yeah, this has potential.
Don't know how to feel about Bentley's announcement. Excited for a new stage an whatnot, but wooden floors and air conditioning just doesn't seem to be in the Coachella spirit
didn't even think about extended sets. awesome!!
size and location will make or break this idea. but I love it. stick it in a corner far from the action and make sure it's not a "cool down/I was just walking by" area for people, such as the do lab.
Looking at any of the mock set times, how possible is it to have extended sets? It seems as if everything is already pretty jam-packed as it is.
But, if you're giving me 3+ hours of DJ Harvey, I'll take it. I'm not complaining.
