Re: 2012 Secret Santa Thread
These are all such wonderful surprises to one another. I'm glad I was able to participate this year and share in the fun!

I'm not that secret - also, the book is written by someone I know. I tried to get a signed copy sorted for you, but I ran out of time and went the Amazon route.

Awesome, Joann! You're the best! And, really, any excuse to re-read Bangs' Let Us Now Praise Famous Death Dwarves...

I read somewhere that Dare! was the record Bangs was playing at the time of his death. I always thought that was oddly cool, a weird, almost cinematic signpost of the life and times.
The idea of Philip Seymour Hoffman playing Bangs rubbed me the wrong way, so I've never actually seen the film. Maybe I ought to soften a little.
I've read the same thing about Bangs playing that Human League record. I like your perspective on it.

You're very welcome Amy! My first idea was to cross-stitch you something using this cool Lumpy Space Princess pattern I found and to put it in a frame, but I quickly discovered that I cannot cross-stitch for shit. I still have all the things for it (thread, pattern, needles, etc.) so if you can cross-stitch I would be happy to send it to you. Here's a pic:

In any case, I hope you enjoy the book (it's one of my favorite by Toni Morrison) and that you can find a good spot for the pig. Merry Christmas!

You've never watched "Almost Famous"? One of my favorite movies, you gotta check it out.

Swag - 2 x 7's - One from a band featuring someone I've jammed with, which is nice. Both sound choices. Also, a MBV wallet. Maybe I'll fill it with my MBV ticket stub collection.

I've also noticed I need to clean my floor.

It means so much these days in the world of IM's and texts to receive a nice hand written note.
you're welcome. i'm happy that you like your present. i was a little concerned that they wouldn't survive the trip. and you are an enigma when it comes to your posts. i had to resort to the questionnaire. and i fully believe in hand written notes

Re: 2012 Secret Santa Thread
My recipient's gift looks like it has still not been delivered, despite the fact that it was supposed to get there last week. My guess is the wicked snow storms throughout the US delayed its trip.

This is a photo of the awesomeness sent to me from Reid, as described a couple pages back:

Re: 2012 Secret Santa Thread
I just checked the updated tracking info: the snow storms kept it trapped up here for a week. Should be delivered on the 2nd.
-
Re: 2012 Secret Santa Thread
I feel bad for those who didn't participate this year. Everything in here would have been great to receive.
-
Re: 2012 Secret Santa Thread
sorry recipient, i lost the tracking number, but it should be delivered today!
-
Re: 2012 Secret Santa Thread
Well that's why my recipient hasn't yet received the package. Like a dumb, I put the street name as the city name, so it's currently one town over. I just called UPS to update that, and they said it'll be delivered either today or tomorrow.
Santee, sorry I'm a dumb.

Re: 2012 Secret Santa Thread
I picked mine up today! It was sitting at the post office for a few days but I just got it and thank you very much Brian P of Ohio! I will post a picture in a little bit but I received a quite nice Slowdive long sleeve shirt that will help to keep me warm in the Vancouver rain. Also were some cute glow sticks and a awesome mixtape that I can't wait to put on!
Thanks a lot Brian!

Six Arizona beers, a How Soon Is Now? pin, and inside the wrapping is Little Dragon's Ritual Union. The beers arrived nice and cold, so I celebrated an early Scotchtoberfest with the Kilt Lifter. Really enjoyed the sweetness and hints of caramel.

Re: 2012 Secret Santa Thread
Did you dress appropriately for the kilt lifter?

Re: 2012 Secret Santa Thread
Gunz, how were the curds? Also, that bacon hot sauce still hasn't arrived. I filed a complaint today.
-
Re: 2012 Secret Santa Thread
They were delicious. I only had a few, because my stoner friend's engulfed all of them on NYE. You know it's a good night when the cheese curd lasts for only a few minutes. :thu
