As in previous years, the self-described "Festival for Adventurous Music and Arts" will focus on experimental music with emphasis on electronic acts. This year's theme is The Golden Age, which refers to the "(over-)abundance of music in the modern world, and its consequences for individuals, aesthetics, politics, and economy." Some 20 acts have been announced so far. Highlights include Emptyset, Matmos and Diamond Version, a new-ish collaboration by Raster-Noton founders Carsten Nicolai (AKA Alva Noto) and Olaf Bender (AKA Byetone), who will perform with the Japanese artist Atsuhiro Ito. Berlin label PAN will host a showcase at Berghain featuring Heatsick, Mark Fell, Florian Hecker, Keith Fullerton Whitman, Jar Moff and acclaimed newcomer Lee Gamble. Further details on the lineup should be arriving in early December.
