Re: Star Wars Ep. 7 coming soon to a theater near you.
Oh come now, let's face facts. The series was only ever anything close to funny for one fucking movie, Empire, and that's because Lucas had fuck all to do with it.

i'm going to ignore this news as long as possible.

Re: Star Wars Ep. 7 coming soon to a theater near you.
Empire's funny? I don't recall too many moments of levity in that story. Then again, outside of the poorly chosen Jar Jar Binks fiasco, I never really thought Star Wars made attempts to be funny. Maybe the small laughing dude who hangs out with Jabba the Hutt.

Re: Star Wars Ep. 7 coming soon to a theater near you.
Han and Leia/Han and Chewie in Empire is lulzy. Han in general in Empire, actually, but they make good use of the other two.

Fuck you, fuck that muppet, and fuck that whole movie.

Re: Star Wars Ep. 7 coming soon to a theater near you.
Disney likes Muppets, do you think we'll get actual Muppets again?

Han is much more a goofy/light characture of himself in Return of the Jedi than Empire Strikes Back. Jedi has the most lulz of the original series.

Anyone remember this diddy? Prefer this over the remade song in the special editions.

Re: Star Wars Ep. 7 coming soon to a theater near you.
"Listen, I made three movies in the late 70s/early 80s. They were really great. Unfortunately, the sheer willpower required to create the Star Wars universe from whole cloth broke my brain, and as such I've spent much of my time since then trying to tear down my own legacy. Despite three prequels and hundreds of thousands of stuffed animals... I've failed, obviously, and so I think it's time to let someone else try. Peace." - George Lucas

You are a goddamn moron. Han is a fucking goofball in Jedi which is precisely why it stops being funny. Like everything else in Jedi, he's fucking slapstick. Name one funny line of his in Jedi that compares to the "the didn't even ask me anything" when he gets dragged back in from being tortured.

Your basically agreeing with me with different words. George Lucas purposely tried to make Jedi more slapstick (Ewoks), which means there are more jokes and laughs in Jedi than the other films (my point). Now are those jokes actually funny? Well I would probably argue that more diehard Star Wars fans get upset with Han's goofyness and the Ewoks than find them funny. I'll agree the humor was sharper in Empire (like everything else in the film) but it was not trying to be as much of a comedy as Jedi was.

Just because something is trying to be funny doesn't mean that it counts as comedy, dipshit.

Re: Star Wars Ep. 7 coming soon to a theater near you.
I wish we could get more of the Fifth Element time/space movies. Star wars has run its course. Even Stark Trek got their prequals right. Disney will fuck up Star Wars more than they did John Carter.

Alright, let's call all the major studios and tell them to rebrand 70% of their comedies as "Shit".

This is an official Disneyland video, by the way...

Re: Star Wars Ep. 7 coming soon to a theater near you.
that was kinda cute. though vader should have definitely got a churro. also didn't notice him waiting in any lines.
so i'm sure this is easily googled, but why did disney have the rights to star tours and to sell star wars merchandise before this? did they have some affiliation with jedi or something via the muppets?

Re: Star Wars Ep. 7 coming soon to a theater near you.
Time to get rid of Mickeys Toon town. Kids these days don't even know who the fuck Mickey Mouse is. Turn it in to tatooine or hoth.

Re: Star Wars Ep. 7 coming soon to a theater near you.
I want to get wasted at the Mos Eisley Cantina before riding space mountain. Make it happen, mouse.

Re: Star Wars Ep. 7 coming soon to a theater near you.
I support Star Wars land in Disney Land

They also have The Indy ride so I'm sure the affiliation was with Lucasfilms.
George Lucas actually owned a heavy stake in Pixar but sold it to Steve Jobs so I'm sure they are really familiar with each other.

Per this article, it started because Lucas wanted to develop some sort of theme attraction for Star Wars and Disneyland wanted both to create their first Motion Simulator ride and to create a new attraction with characters that children of the era could more easily recognize and retain an emotional connection with. They pitched it and he agreed.

C-3PO's whining and worrying was supposed to be funny. The music performance by the Max Rebo Band in Jabba's palace was supposed to be funny in an absurd, out-of-place sort of way.
Plus Han's sarcasm, such as

Leia is also sarcastically funny ("Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?" "Will somebody get this walking carpet out of my way?")

Re: Star Wars Ep. 7 coming soon to a theater near you.
My favorite witty line is from A New Hope, when they are in the Death Star, and Han Solo and Chewbacca run into yet another group of stormtroopers, and Han says, "Didn't we just leave this party?"

Re: Star Wars Ep. 7 coming soon to a theater near you.
It seems more feasable to just turn tomorrowland into star wars land
