It's CA, not MN.
Fuck the Talking Heads and fuck anyone who tells me to fuck off for saying it.
How do you know they're not chasing Neil, DM or Pearl Jam?

Well as of S.S. Coachella they are more than likely already searching for 2014 & 2015's headliners now because 2013 should already be pretty much in the bag.
I am still expecting to see two headliners each day this year so you very well may see Niel Young, Depeche Mode, and Pearl Jam on the poster alongside Daft Punk and others.
^^^Pure speculation obviously :rolleyes

No, I think they were testing it out in 2011 (derp) with Kanye and The Strokes.

Re: 2013 Lineup Confirmation/Rumors Thread
They literally said in the forum on S.S. Coachella that they have the means to fund 4 weekends of Coachella in a row.......

The crew said they receive enough ticket requests to support more than four weekends of Coachella, but they have no plans to expand beyond two.

i have a sneaking suspicion that 2014 Coachella is gonna be:
Tool
Mumford & Sons
Depeche Mode
i would say Bloc Party, but i think they're gonna sub this year.

that had nothing to do with GV, that was in the Strokes' contract.

And given that they tried this and didn't do it again the following year you think that it will magically reappear all 3 days this year? Stellar logic.

It was 2011 and why the fuck

Re: 2013 Lineup Confirmation/Rumors Thread
Not to mention the Strokes didn't actually headline. They didn't co-headline. They got about the same length of time as a normal sub-headlining act. On the same stage as a normal 2nd line act. And at the same time. Had The Strokes closed out the night on Outdoor stage after Kanye, then maybe there would be cause for discussion.

If the Strokes didn't headline or co-headline, what line would you say they were on?

Bloc Party is a great fucking band, and Silent Alarm is a classic. Just saw them at the Fox in Oakland and it was amazing.
With that said, there is no way in hell they'd headline Coachella anytime soon. They're going to sub at most, but I highly doubt after being 4th line at OSL and not even a sub at Lolla this year they'd jump to a co-headlining act at Coachella by then, especially after this last album.

They were on whatever line their fucking pathetic management contractually obligated them to be on. They didn't play a headline set. And it's laughable to think they could legitimately headline a festival the size of Coachella.

Strokes 2011 blew Radiohead 2012 out of the water. And I don't give a flying fuk about the strokes

Re: 2013 Lineup Confirmation/Rumors Thread
Hey... hey, dicknoses? Dicknoses? Please, gather round just for a sec.
"Headliner" means you are billed at the top of the poster. It doesn't have anything to do with what time you perform. It doesn't matter that Kanye closed the stage after The Strokes. They were both headliners, because they were at the head line of the poster. It's a term that designates what level of drawing power you exist on, and that it determined by whether or not the promoter puts you on the Head Line.

I am not trying to defend their legitimacy when it comes to being a headliner. They played, like, 4 minutes of a shorter set than Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg (Yes, Dre and Snoop brought more to the table than The Strokes in roughly the same time-span, but the length of their set doesn't eliminate where they were placed on the poster). Whether you, I, or anyone else feels they deserved that slot is irrelevant. They shared the top line with Kanye. They co-headlined.

I'm sorry, but where are people getting the idea that Vampire Weekend is playing? They have no new album and haven't played a show in the US in god knows how long

Didn't the Strokes do that in Europe 2010/11?

Yes and there were rumors they were working on a new album months ago. They debuted a new song over the summer.
With that being said, who is even talking about Vampire Weekend in this thread? Does anyone here like or care about them enough to discuss whether or not they will be on the lineup?
