Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
I shudder to think at how pathetically sparse a techno stage at an inaugural Insomniac event at the motherfucking Oakland Coliseum would be.
-
Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
Doesn't matter had techno
-
Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
Who, Umek? The typical roundhouse of techno artists Insomniac now steadily books? There's solid techno being spun by SF locals constantly. It's not as if Insomniac is finally bestowing some sort of underrepresented techno abyss upon the Bay Area.

Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
All I know is, I like insomniac lineups, I will probably like their lineup, and I enjoy dancing, so I will be there. I have way more fun at festivals than club shows
-
Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
You guys know that just up north is Decibel Festival that weekend......... There will be PLENTY of GOOD TECHNO
-
Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
...and you won't have to wait till the week of for the lineup since dB's has been out for a while now.
-
Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
Jesus Christ it's buzzkill central up in this thread. Oh noes we have another festival we can attend, I am so upset about this!!!
-
Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
You mistake mockery with hurt feelings.
Maybe I'll go to this as a Rave Ambassador. A lot of my really awful tasted friends are probably going to want to.

"Here friends, let me show you how to listen to music, see, it's easy!! And this is called dancing you move back and forth. Taste the music. Glad we had this lesson"

according to my friend who does bookings, he said that they were looking into options from the lineup at decibel, we'll see
-
Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
No shit? Thanks for that nugget, Nick. No one would have ever speculated that they'd be drawing from the talent already at Decibel without you confirming that it's a speculative possibility.

Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
i hope guedita isnt still trying to talk to me after knowingly being on my ignore list for months.

shut the fuck up

Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
but honestly lineup will probably be 75% bad and will have justin martin and claude on it. but whatever anything is a start
-
Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
I'm going no matter what and going to fist pump and have plurgasms on all the music snobs. An Insomniac event in the bay area sounds like a good time. STFU to whatever snarky response comes next.
-
Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
Since they say "3 outdoor areas" I am guessing this is in the lot like lovefest?
Not an ideal venue, but whatever. At least it's not Shoreline. I will be buying a ticket.

What club shows are you attending in SF? Carl Craig and Octave One (Live) are at Public Works that same night. Better venue, better crowd, better techno.
-
Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
insomniac events are fantastic. count me in.
-
Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
I'm supposed to go to Tahoe that weekend, but may attend this instead :)

This sounds fun but not as fun as an Insomniac event. Massive stages = better venue, ravers = better crowd, and you don't know that it's necessarily better techno.

Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
Yes. The parking lot of the Oakland Coliseum is a far better venue than clubs built specifically with the sound quality of electronic music in mind.
-
Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
the side of I-880 on a desolate tarmac does seem a bit unimaginative
-
Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
Yeah, a parking lot with bigass speakers, expensive lighting, and themed decorations

A concrete NASCAR racetrack in the middle of the desert seems pretty unimaginative too. Oh wait, they built stuff on it and it transformed into one of the most amazing places ever.

also, polo grounds don't sound like a better musical experience than a nice club, oh wait..yeah
-
Re: Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
What? The polo grounds most certainly do have the appeal of being a scenically wonderful place to experience music. A parking lot on the side of one of the ugliest freeways in known existence does not.
