A cryptic message posted today on Twitter by @Coachella and on http://www.coachella.com/ that simply reads “Tuesday 6 p.m. PDT” has got everyone and anyone who has been following the possible Coachella Valley Music & Art Festival move anxious for would could be a major announcement.
In the last few weeks, The Desert Sun has reported Goldenvoice officials have been thinking about taking two of the valley’s biggest music festivals — Coachella and Stagecoach – out of Indio to a new location in 2014.
According to The Desert Sun’s latest story on Sunday, producers of the music festivals have been considering the move as early as 2008.
“It may still have its eye on producing the Coachella and Stagecoach festivals on land just eight miles east of its current home at the Empire Polo Club,” reporters Bruce Fessier and Marcel Honore stated.
While it’s unclear what Goldenvoice is trying to tell its fans, the Indio City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The council is slated to provide an update on the two festival ad hoc committees — the negotiation committee and resident impact committee.
Stay tuned …

As early as 2008, Goldenvoice was considering moving its two acclaimed music festivals out of Indio, The Desert Sun has learned.
It may still have its eye on producing the Coachella and Stagecoach festivals on land just eight miles east of its current home at the Empire Polo Club.
Yann Debonne, managing partner of the limited liability company, Jackson 62, said Goldenvoice officials approached him in 2008 about leasing his company's 480 acres on Avenue 62, between Van Buren and Jackson streets.
Debonne said negotiations fell through in 2009 because Goldenvoice wanted a long-term deal.
“As a landowner,” he said, “I didn't want to lock that in for 25 years.”
Debonne also said he believes Goldenvoice has “been in talks” with landowners across the street from that intersection. Susan Harvey, whose real estate company, Desert Pacific Properties, represents that lender-owned property, declined to discuss any possible negotiations with Goldenvoice. But that property is surrounded by polo fields, including actor William Devane's 537-acre Deer Creek and the 400-acre Brazo Norte polo field, which Harvey said Debonne owns.
The area at the corner of Avenue 62 and Van Buren Street is a blend of farmland, date groves, open desert scrub and polo fields. The acreage Desert Pacific Properties represents is undeveloped — large bushes, decaying corn cobs and spent shotgun shells dot the ground, along with scattered piles of wood and debris. It stands in stark contrast to the bucolic, manicured polo fields at Brazo Norte and Deer Creek, where views of the Santa Rosa Mountains are similar to those at Empire Polo Club.
Announcement: Paul uses an alias on the boards, and has leaked a headliner...
soon............
The Rolling Stones will launch their 50th anniversary tour with Coachella being the first and/or only festival stop. GV and The Stones have decided to make a joint announcement instead of having speculation drag out until January, when the rest of the lineup will be announced. Brilliant PR from both sides. Dig?
I'd rather just about any other announcement tomorrow than that the fucking Stones are playing.
Coachella Announcement Logic:
Step 1: Goldenvoice has been discussing potentially moving the festival from Indio in 2014.
Step 2: There will be an announcement on the Coachella homepage on Tuesday, July 17, 2012.
Conclusion: The announcement must be about the thing happening two fucking years from now.
It's going to be a Coachella cruise

Uh, geez. I can’t imagine any possible way that a cruise can capture the essence of Coachella enough to consider it within the same “brand”. The ocean vs. the desert; luxury staterooms vs. camping; late night trips to In n Out vs. day trips to Jimmy Buffett’s Jamaican Margarita-ville.
What kind of acts are gonna play on this cruise?
A cruise would certainly explain the all blue background. That's kind of anti-climactic. Fuck.
Since I live in Florida I would be very tempted to do this as long as the lineup is good. I imagine the cruise is going to be expensive as fuck though.
waste of time....
Has anyone been on a music-themed cruise (or something similar) before? How do they typically work? I guess it might be kind of cool if you had a headliner and a few other notable acts play at local venues in the destination ports each night, with a bunch of the lower-tier acts playing the lounges and public spaces on the cruise ship throughout the day.
The Weezer cruise was fucking ace. These ships have full theatres inside them, plus shows in the smaller bars and deck shows. Beer is normal prices, all your food is included and it is actually cheaper than the combo price of a condo + Coachella ticket. Also, you actually tend to go somewhere rather cool.
i just get the feeling a cruise means skrillex.
life means skrillex.
