They would seem like a great fit, Kadavar would be nice to see as well.

Dillinger was there in 2010. I haven't paid any sort of attention to what they've been up to but if they have come out with new stuff they could be a possibility.
Every Time I Die is on my wishlist

Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
Coachella likes Mexican reunions/one offs, they should get Brujeria.

Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
Kvelertak is on the initial Roskilde lineup and have a new album in the works. I could see them playing in Baroness' slot from 2010.

They're recording their new album right now. Hopefully they'll play again! Their set in 2010 was amazing;)

Dillinger Escape Plan --> Glassjaw --> Deftones to close out the Gobi?

Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
I know I'll get flamed, but Rush would be pretty righteous.

Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
Did anyone see Genghis Tron in '09?

You just aced my wishlist. There would have to be a pretty compelling act going on for me to leave that tent at all with those three stacked next to each other.

Saw them the other night and it was very, very good.
I believe Sabbath will be in Oz, so we can cross them off.
Red Fang
In This Moment
The Sword
Fu Manchu
Electric Sister (up and coming Bay Area hard rock act.)

Regarding Rush, yes, definitely! Their music is complex and cerebral like a lot of Coachella bands, and they've only grown in relevance. They still put out vital new music. Clockwork Angels is being reviewed really well, and they are playing it in its entirety on this tour. Not many "Classic Rock" bands can pull that off.

i dont want to sound like a queer or nothing, but i think unicorns are pretty kickass!
anyway if rush headlined the main stage the tent overflow would be insane. you can reason all you want but most people could care less about rush.
-
Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
and i don't think they would headline..they would best be placed on Outdoor in the Thom Yorke slot...but the poster would look odd without a big name above them..
-
Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
It'll probably never happen, but I could see them as a Friday night headliner on the Main Stage, as long as Sat. and Sun. are slotted with more obvious Coachella bands to balance it out. If the weekend was sprinkled with bands like QOTSA, Perfect Circle, and/or Tool, maybe Les Claypool too, Rush would make sense.

Rush would not headline. Devo slot or slightly higher, at the very most Duran Duran slot (3rd).

Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
I think you're confusing Rush with bands relegated to the County Fair circuit. These guys play arenas on their own. They just did two nights at Gibson Amphitheater in LA. They are continuously one of the top money making tours every year. They continually put out new music that actually stands up to their older output. Many fans of SOME of the bands that appear at Coachella, mainly the more instrumentally inclined bands, appreciate Rush. I remember how dissappointed people were at Roger Waters being booked, and he owned it that year for most.
-
Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
You guys are out of your minds if you think Rush would ever be at Coachella in any capacity.
-
Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
Probably not, they do well enough on their own, and there is a strange ageism with Coachella fans, but their music is not that far removed from many bands who have already played Coachella. Trent Reznor cites them as a major influence.
-
Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
Rush will never play Coach. Like Metallica and Black Sabbath.
-
Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
Rush not playing Coachella has nothing to do with how old they are
-
Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
i was going to say correct but changed my mind
more a combination of age, genre, reputation, and perception from the average attendee's POV which basically = a bunch of old farts playing classic rock

Man, Probot, that would be a get. Even if Grohl wanted to tour behind that, the shows would feel sort of stupid unless he got every vocalist from the album.
