Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
I know that in the past, Coachella seems to shy away from heavier acts. With that caveat, I'd like to see any of the below on the 2013 lineup:
Queens of the Stone Age
Probot
Mastodon
Baroness
Kylesa
Torche
Opeth
Meshuggah
Gojira
Dethklok (srs.)
Red Fang
Deftones
High On Fire
Converge
Wolves in the Throne Room
Pelican
...and so on. Please?

Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
Blut Aus Nord & Liturgy, please
o ya, and Sun O))) / Boris (a man can dream)

Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
Pantera
Gwar
Megadeath
Metallica
AC/DC

Yeah, just what you want to see, Harley gangs at Coachella. Not to trash on this thread, but if any of those groups played at Coachella it would be signing off on it's death warrant.

There aren't enough doorknobs in this world to give you the sack beating you deserve.

Any? Really? Mastodon & Baroness have already decimated Coachella crowds with late-night sets to thunderous applause. Pretty certain the festival not only survived, but thrived afterwards. Also, there are few heavy rock / metal acts that would receive a warmer welcome to the grounds than QOTSA, Meshuggah, & Boris. Got any suggestions? Or are would you prefer the likes of Owl City as a substitute to, say, OPETH.

Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
I was surprised not to see either Boris or Liturgy on last year's poster.
-
Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
Yeah, Liturgy in particular suddenly occupies the "Pitchfork-approved metal band" slot that I would imagine has a place at Coachella. That said, (IMO) they're not all that great. I could see Baroness being back next year; they've grown in leaps and bounds, and their new album will be out this summer. I think that they've got the best shot.

Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
Baroness was on during the day, one of the first acts I saw of 2010
There have been a ton of threads about this, and given that Coachella has completely ignored metal the past 2 years I wouldn't get my hopes up

Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
I'd take Wolves In The Throne Room and/or High on Fire over Baroness. Both have recently released albums and tour semi-often. But really, can we just have ONE metal band this year?
-
Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
Even one token one would be nice... Although ATR and Refused were nice, there was definately a lack of the heavier stuff this year.
-
Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
Inside Out
Unbroken
Ceremony
American Nightmare
Converge

Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
I've been asking for Deftones FOREVER. Looks like they've got a new record coming out, too, so it's worth a shot.

Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
I keep hearing QOTSA is a lock so how about Kyuss Lives! Just for laughs..
Tool will be out and about..
The Sword
Motorhead
and for punk I would love to see X return to Costchella. They are rock royalty.
-
Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
Costchella I see what you did there beyond, brilliant just brilliant... I guess I never really care about the price of Coachella cause I'm not poor.
-
Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
I would love to see Kvelertak in 2013. For me, they were the only exciting thing on the Bonnaroo lineup (though they have since dropped off).

Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
We can all agree we'd love Tool to come back.
Down would be my choice for a heavier band to play Coachella...not sure if they still are good live, but I know they toured this past year. Otherwise, I'd be thrilled to see Slayer on the lineup.

Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
Do you really think Coachella is going to shill out the money for either of those?

Right? There's no reason why they couldn't be there 2013.

I can't imagine Down costs that much to book. Slayer probably won't happen for this reason, but I don't see why Down isn't a possibility. It's not like they have a huge tour and they've been pretty consistently an earlier-in-the-day act at festivals they've played. When they were orignally on the Bonnaroo 2009 lineup they were billed very low.

Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
maybe Tool is a nogo but Puscifer would be cool.
how about The Darkness? new album "Hot Cakes" on its way.
-
Re: Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock wishlist for 2013
Darkness heavy metal huh?

Throwback 80's cheese glam rock.... And when people are throwing around names like converge slayer gwar and tool you really think the darkness fits that same bill?
