I'd say, Slowdive, The Stone Roses, Desaparecidos, and Texas is the Reason. Although, I think, Texas is the Reason will probably do a couple of shows in LA in venues like the Fonda, or the Glasshouse.

Here is the background story. I was in the office of a co-worker in an industry that is so far distanced from music and entertainment that it isn't even funny. There was some Stagecoach memorabilia in the office, and so I made some comment like, "Oh, do you go to Stagecoach?"
Them: "Yes, every year."
Me: "Oh, I go to Coachella every year."
Them: "So do I! I've been every year because of [INSERT BUSINESS CONNECTION WITH GOLDENVOICE.] My favorite acts have been Paul McCartney and Madonna."
Me: "Cool".
BLAH BLAH BLAH BUSINESS
Them (as I am leaving the door): "But you'll never guess who they have for next year."
I get all excited thinking it's a headliner. It's not, but I'm guessing second liner. They say "BLAHBLAHBLAH".
It's pretty big.
I'm not going to ruin anything for anybody, because I do think it will be a great left field surprise, but I am going to leave vague enough clues that when the act ends up on the poster, I can bump this thread and be all like, "Told you I knew what I was talking about." Because I'm an ass.
Band, not solo singer
80s era
At least one member has significant name recognition outside of the band
Has not been mentioned so far in this thread
No way Bonnaroo or Lolla will book it
Have fun. And now I will insert a word in this thread so I can search for it and bump it when January comes out: Rapscallion.
See you then.
Considering that travelfan had Culture Club on his pool, there's one of the reunions.

I was thinking about that post. What a let down.

Erik, do you really want to hurt me?

Would love to see a Soul Coughing reunion. No reason to think this is going to happen, just listening to them today and thought about how awesome it would be.

I saw both of TITR's New York shows, they were spectacular. I've gotta say though, a Coachella set would be a letdown - they'd play at 4 pm to a 3/4-empty Gobi. Remember how lifeless Sunny Day Real Estate's 2010 set was? It'd be like that, x1,000. The polo fields just ain't for the emos.

John Densmore kept suing them for using the Doors name so now they just go by Manzarek-Krieger or Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of the Doors.
Also, Sneaker Pimps needs to happen soon.

yeah..although Manzarek-Krieger-Densmore w/ special guests would be ideal.. (and def sounds like more of a bonnaroo thing)

Re: 2013 Reunion Wishlist/Speculation Thread
I saw Doors of the 21st Century on New Years Eve 2004 in Anaheim. That was a great fucking show.

This would be great, but it wouldn't happen.

Lets just pretend it was never meant.
Honestly....I would probably be balling at the nostalgia of my emo adolescence.

Re: 2013 Reunion Wishlist/Speculation Thread
Since we are on the topic of emo bands, how about Further Seems Forever. They released a new album this year with the original lineup that is actually pretty good.

Re: 2013 Reunion Wishlist/Speculation Thread
I would be happy with Chris Carraba doing "The Moon is Down" but I think reunions like Texas is the Reason and Jawbreaker are more on par with Coachella.

Well, TiTR seems to be out with their just announced tour dates and I would be in a state of shock and awe if Jawbreaker ever played together again. I would take both those bands over FSF though.

Re: 2013 Reunion Wishlist/Speculation Thread
Youre probably right about TitR...hopefully I'll snag a couple on Friday when the go on sale for DC.
-
Re: 2013 Reunion Wishlist/Speculation Thread
I could die happy if I ever got to see Jawbreaker play live.
-
Re: 2013 Reunion Wishlist/Speculation Thread
Man, a Capn' Jazz or preferably an American Football reunion would be awesome.
-
Re: 2013 Reunion Wishlist/Speculation Thread
please post the best TitR song, don't think I ever checked em out

GV approached Jawbreaker about playing next year's Coachella, but from I heard, Blake said no. Apparently, they've been approached in the past as well.

They only released one album (Do You Know Who You Are?), and an EP (Texas Is The Reason) before calling it quits. Check out the first song off the album called "Johnny On The Spot." You'll get an idea of their sound.

Re: 2013 Reunion Wishlist/Speculation Thread
Yeah, I'm sure Blake wouldn't be interested. I would also love to see Jets to Brazil. Orange Rhyming Dictionary is still one of my favorite albums. But I'm also sure that's not gonna happen either. boo.
