BW had jacked up weekend 1 but not weekend 2 by may last year because they apparently hadn't been told about the 2nd weekend plan. We managed to book rooms there for about $100/night (hedging on which weekend would be the sole coachella) but ended up going to the more expensive weekend. It was still worth it.

Yeah that was the one. I stayed at the Best Western in 2011.

The Hilton Garden Inn-Rancho Mirage is a little over a mile from the the Green Palm Desert shuttle line that stops by the Albertsons on 111. I've locked my bike at the Albertsons all day with no issue. The hotel price is right and open for booking now. If you have neither a bike nor a car, however, then the hotel is not a good idea for you. :/

Re: Hotels in the area already booked for 2013?!?
Prices jacked up all over the area at least $70 per room per night. Stayed at Holiday Inn Express on 111 (the one with Applebee's in the parking lot) for $121 per room per night this year. Cheapest for them was $190 this year. Sigh.

Re: Hotels in the area already booked for 2013?!?
Curious, if you have stayed here before. I have always car camped only but am interested in adding the hotel in there as well. Is it walking distance?
-
Re: Hotels in the area already booked for 2013?!?
There is no hotel within walking distance (that I know of) that is worth the money they will charge. We stay near the stores and either shuttle or drive in. I know I don't have a lot of posts, but it'll be our fifth straight year (in 2013) this way, and it works for us.

Re: Hotels in the area already booked for 2013?!?
Any other tips for affordable rooms aside from motel 6? Have never stayed at a hotel for Coachella. If anyone has any specific hotels I would be grateful. Looking at the Hilton Garden Inn Rancho Mirage at this point.

I'll be cancelling a reservation for Motel 6 in Palm Desert here pretty soon if anyone is interested in booking a room there....

did you book straight off their website?

Re: Hotels in the area already booked for 2013?!?
I think I am going to stick with The Comfort Inn in Palm Springs for next year, unless I end up renting a house of condo with some of my friends.

Palm Springs is just too far of a drive for my group and I after a long day of drinking + whatever else.

I am going to get a shuttle pass, so driving wont be in issue for me. Staying in Palm Desert the last two years was really convenient, but I cant pay those crazy prices this year. It's bad enough as it is how much I am paying to stay in Palm Springs.

Re: Hotels in the area already booked for 2013?!?
haha fuck. comfort inn doubled its rates and in the last hour the best western has sold out of any rooms i can afford.
between this and the fee increase I'm thinking of just giving up on this whole shit. like i know i'd have fun but i feel like i'm lining up for the newest iphone at this point, just a whole lot of effort and money that i wouldn't have to expend/spend to stay home and see these bands as they roll through during the year.

Re: Hotels in the area already booked for 2013?!?
Motel 6 in Palm Desert (Right off the 10 at Washington), still has rooms for both weekends for $105 a night. This is about 10 minutes from the Indian Wells shuttle stop right down Washington. There is no obligation or payment needed right now and you can cancel up to 6pm the night before your reservation. No one reading this thread should have any excuse not to at least reserve a room just in case.
Edit: I would avoid the other Motel 6 at Monroe - it's pretty crappy.
-
Re: Hotels in the area already booked for 2013?!?
actually, it's 6pm day of arrival.

We used to stay at the Best Western until they got new toilets - they sound like a bomb going off especially in the middle of the night -awaking everyone in the room. But the breakfast is pretty nice.

Re: Hotels in the area already booked for 2013?!?
So, I have always reserved a room using one of the travel websites (hotels.com, orbitz, travelocity, etc) as I have never found any decent rates directly from a hotel before. I tried 6 of these websites, and they all say that they will not reserve rooms more than 330 days ahead of time. So, their calendar goes up to about April 9/10 2013. I checked a couple of the hotel websites where we stayed previously, and they say "no rooms available". Just wondering how people are reserving rooms so far in advance, and if I should be worried!

Re: Hotels in the area already booked for 2013?!?
The Red Roof Inn next to the In-N-Out by Agua Caliente had rooms for $160 a night with no restrictions two days ago. I know it's not the best place and a crazy price for it (It's $53 a night on Sunday), but it's a place...

Re: Hotels in the area already booked for 2013?!?
Why the hell would you get a hotel when you could stay in the campgrounds and RAVE YOUR DICK OFF
-
Re: Hotels in the area already booked for 2013?!?
Bastards at Holiday Inn Express Palm Desert are requiring a Thursday-Monday stay next year. Screw that.

Re: Hotels in the area already booked for 2013?!?
Decided to not risk it and booked a room at the Hyatt in Palm Springs. Comes with two deluxe double beds and a sofa bed, so it should easily sleep six people. Not too bad for $162 a night.
