i didn't mean you specifically, but there would be blood from many here if their name appears on the lineup.

Re: Omnibus 2013 Headliner Speculation and Argument Thread
The Foos would be lame, not because of their inherent Fooness, but rather because they've already played every other goddamn festival and major-to-midsize city over the last two years. At least the Black Keys had a new album to play.

Re: Omnibus 2013 Headliner Speculation and Argument Thread
Muse or The Killers return
Tool
Soundgarden or pearl jam
(no rap headliners next year)

so they just started developing the hologram on the off chance black sabbath had cancer?

Re: Omnibus 2013 Headliner Speculation and Argument Thread
Well digital domain is one of the three top Visual FX companies in the world. They get shit done at a fast pace with the best quality too. Friend is doing Enders Game work there right now, this is the same company that did Benjamin Button and I believe also Tron (young jeff bridges)
With all the geeks working there, a tupac hologram was probably one of the projects they lost a lot of sleep over with enthusiasm for getting it done perfectly
Also snoop and Dre hotboxed the conference room there several times

I don't think that when they sit down to program the festival and start making offers to potential headliners that they consciously work with specific categories to check off. However, I do think that genre diversity factors into the process, likely as a secondary concern to who is big enough/who will sell tickets. "Categories" for lack of a better term -- and I fully admit they are silly at a certain fundamental level -- likely factor in after the short list of "these acts can and would be willing to headline" emerge.

Then it would be much less lame. I've got no personal objection to the Foo Fighters, as a headliner or in general.

Then why are you getting upset at the idea of Green Day headlining?

just basing that off the quote that it took '4 months' to develop the hologram, which would extend back to before the new year.

No, they started creating the hologram because they've been planning to tour with it all along. Go back and do your research. It was pretty well documented that they were popped in as the sub for BS.
Or it actually did only take four months. Either one, I am 99% certain that Dre/Snoop were the #2 plan all along. Not just getting my info from media reports either.

Who knows what the actual truth is, but Dr. Dre claims that the hologram was for Coachella. He doth protest too much, methinks, in saying "If a tour happens, we'll see":

Dre says it was created just for Coachella. Sure it was initially conceived as just that, but the cost dictates they will probably tour with it.

If Krist Novoselic came out for a mini set I'd think everyone would change their mind. Maybe do material Grohl has never done at a FF show.

Re: Omnibus 2013 Headliner Speculation and Argument Thread
It's possible the hologram thing was a one off, but I'm positive the tour thing isn't. Heard from a source, and also read it somewhere (can't find it now considering any google search of dre or snoop or coachella or tour all return results about the hologram).

Re: Omnibus 2013 Headliner Speculation and Argument Thread
Anyway back to silly speculation on 2013.
I will go for 3 from Springsteen, Neil Young, Eminem, Muse, Arcade Fire, Jack White.

Re: Omnibus 2013 Headliner Speculation and Argument Thread
I would like to see Jack White headline one night, but why isn't there more talk about Pearl Jam? Not only is the new album supposed to be out next year, but it will be the 20th fucking anniversary of their historical show on the Polo Fields in 1993!
-
Re: Omnibus 2013 Headliner Speculation and Argument Thread
I would be so happy about No Doubt. So happy. IDGAF.

Re: Omnibus 2013 Headliner Speculation and Argument Thread
Apparently people threw their shoes at the band during that performance.

Because Pearl Jam are dull.

My Morning Jacket
Foo Fighters
Beastie Boys
I'd be down
-
Re: Omnibus 2013 Headliner Speculation and Argument Thread
The Killers
The Rolling Stones
Eminem
-
Re: Omnibus 2013 Headliner Speculation and Argument Thread
Lady Gaga
Green Day
Rolling Stones

One Stones-related rumor I read had them planning 10+ night residencies in New York and LA.

i read the same article (where the 4 months notion came from). it stated there was talk of a tour. I don't think there would be a holo-tour without a coachella debut, however.
