I have seen At The Drive-In, Mars Volta and Sparta. Words cannot explain how excited I am that I will finally see ATD-I again. To me that was when they were at their best. They had the weird experimental jam feeling that was later developed more in The Mars Volta but they also had that we are here to rock your asses that was developed more in Sparta. For them to come back over a decade later and merge those sounds again is the real reason we are going to Coachella this year. I am also hopeful that they will come home and play a special show for us here, but I am not waiting around for that.
Soooo stoaked for At The FUCKING Drive-In! AND Omar is playing with Le Butcherettes!? Gotta work up those neck muscles for all the rockin out that's about to happen
This and Refused are my most anticipated sets this year. I had the extreme pleasure of seeing At the Drive-in in Austin during my Texas years, and I am here to tell you that they will not disappoint. I know that my personal hopes are probably getting a bit out of control, but those of you that said that they aren't likely to play anything prior to In/Casino/Out are just straight up wrong. I would actually be very surprised if they didn't play Initiation. I'm also holding out hope for Starslight and Embroglio. I recognize that they're probably going to play a very Relationship heavy setlist, and I'm ok with that. I also know that their set is going to be probably 90 minutes tops.. and I can accept that as well. That having been said, I would expect them to slam through a lot of songs in that 90 minutes, and some of those are going to be for the hardcore fans.
If they play anything from Acrobatic, then Initiation is possible...I would still be surprised. Starslight or Embroglio would shock me, especially given the fact that Embroglio is about Julio Venegas and Omar and Cedric then wrote the entire Deloused In The Comatorium about him, hence I think maybe they wouldnt revisit Embroglio for personal reasons, as they are very personal guys. Or maybe I'm just talking shit as a similar argument could apply for them not playing Napoleon Solo, which they are clearly going to play
Was that rambling enough?
Time will tell, Mr Magic
if I had to guess what their setlist would be like, it would be something like this:
Pattern Against User
Invalid Litter Dept.
Skips on the Record
One Armed Scissor
I hope you are right
Emptiness Is A Mule 15 times
not one video. do you guys like this band, or do you just like talking ABOUT this band?
no one reads first posts. not throwing stones, it was just a thought.
That is fucking awesome...
I actually honestly enjoyed the psych jam fusion thing that Omar & Co. had going on last year.
AHHH, this is going to rule.
How is this not the most discussed band on the boards so far?
did they stop paying napoleon solo last during their last tour or something? every time i saw them (before relationship came out, never saw em after) they closed with napoleon solo. seeing a few setlist guesses with that not listed as the last song has me a bit confused. i thought they ALWAYS closed with that in tribute to their lost friends, just wondering if that changed.
also anyone else a little scared that their set could possibly end prematurely if brochella types start moshing, or are they over that now?
