2012 Lineup Confirmations/Rumors Thread

The trend the last few years has been to move away from live (even live EDM) at the Sahara. I bet its a logistics thing. To that end, expect to see M83 as the Outdoor stage sunset act and The Rapture sometime after sunset in the Mojave. I'm with the others that Tobin won't be in the Sahara either. The rest seem about right.

There's a lot of silliness in the whole "what belongs in the Sahara" argument... but using The Rapture as a basis to say M83 would be in the Sahara is kind of retarded.

If Cut Copy or Passion Pit were in the Sahara the last two years then I'd be inclined to think the same could be possible for M83. However that didn't happen so I don't expect them there.

Yes I am in agreement with this statement. To be more complete, I would say they are moving towards a Sahara that consistently has a massive, permanent lighting installation and are therefore putting live electronic acts - and acts which bring their own lighting setups - on other stages so they don't have to take down/move/work around the lighting in the Sahara.

Sahara = DJs.

I dont think goldenvoice is as concerned with this whole idea of what "belongs" in the sahara as you guys think. Every year there are changes to the festival. Huge changes, small changes. This year is no different.
