Does anyone here NOT like indie rock?
Part of me is worried that there wont be enough electronica acts at Coachella to keep me entertained and dancing for the entire three days.
But, at the same time, i'm very open to experiencing what other genres have to offer. I've just never really had a chance to listen to a lot of the rock acts that will be performing at the festival.
How could a rock newbie like me go about learning more about the music and appreciating some of the acts?

A good place to start is the Coachella player.

i go through and try to watch at least two youtube videos of each artist. it takes a lot of time, but it at least gives you some exposure to what's out there. plus, you can see live performances for some artists on youtube, which will give you a fair representation of what they will be like live.

Re: Does anyone here NOT like indie rock?
there is generally enough electronica to keep you entertained for most of the weekend. When there isn't you just eat or walk around and do the sideshow stuff. or you can just walk around and watch a few minutes of each stage and move on. Guaranteed you won't be able to do a full lap around the polo fields without finding something to keep you entertained for atlittle while.

Re: Does anyone here NOT like indie rock?
if you get bored you might find jack looking for 16 year old girls by the portopotties which should be very entertaining

There should be plenty of electronica for you to see, also keeping in mind that you may want to just relax or grab a bite to eat.

also it's typically a wander for me. i find that most effective. some of the best shit i've seen there was completely unexpected. i mean you plan out your pixies and your arcade fires and shit like that but after awhile it's just best to have no schedule. for me anyway.

Just take a bunch of acid.

since you're mainly focusing on electronica I suggest you just pick a few rock bands.. one or two a day.. based on stuff you hear and read about. this group the Arcade Fire has a few fans around here, for example.

Re: this suggestion the Listen to Coachella Music thread is still around. Many folks have posted YouTubes for most of the artists playing the fest.

I'm not big on indie rock. Most of it anyhow.

I would say I'm more into the electronica acts as well, but you will have no problem being entertained.. all the acts at coachella are usually really good. There is a bunch of other shit that you can besides listen to music though... eat, drink, lay down in the shade, look at the art installations, the little shows, go online at the att room, masturbate, day dream about whitney houston etc.

Good luck with the shade.

Question is though, is it a picture of Whitney in your head while you rub one out?

Re: Does anyone here NOT like indie rock?
Bodyguard Whitney or Bobby Whitney?
-
Re: Does anyone here NOT like indie rock?
If there is too much of any genre of music at Coachella, then too many similar but likable bands will have conflicting set times. Conflicts suck!

Re: Does anyone here NOT like indie rock?
The fact that you look like Jesus isn't a good enough reason to keep resurrecting threads.

I look like other people way more than Jesus. I heard Eric Bogosian or Serj from System of a Down or Chad Kroeger of Nickelback.

Re: Does anyone here NOT like indie rock?
i do not like indie rock. for the most part anyway.

Re: Does anyone here NOT like indie rock?
Indie rock blows away most other kinds of music in today's society. It is better than what is on most commercial radio stations.

Marooko looks like a Dimmu Borger or Cradle of Filth fan.

I guess I could use some fans right about now.
